This upcoming 2025-2026 school year will be my 21st year as a high school English teacher (?!?) Over the years, I have had the honor of learning from hundreds and hundreds of students who have greatly impacted and enriched my life.
A proud 2001 graduate of Sauquoit Valley, I earned my B.A. in English Literature & Education from Siena College in 2005 and my Master's Degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Cortland in 2008. I am professionally certified in English (grades 5-12) and Literacy (birth-grade 6). I began my career at Camden Central High School, where I worked for over five years in a department of veteran English teachers whose wisdom and experience I still treasure.
In 2010, I returned here to my Alma Mater to teach underclassmen. Since 2013, I have been mostly teaching a variety of senior-level English courses, which has absolutely been the highlight of my career so far!
My husband (Coach Cardillo) and I are proud parents to Maggie and Nicholas, who are both students here at Sauquoit, too. I also come from a family of teachers who inspired me in my career and continue to support me through it.
I love to spend my free time outdoors and in the sunshine, whether camping, swimming, skiing, hiking, kayaking, running, or just reading a good book on the porch - or, preferably - on a beach! I also like to continue on my family's recipes while cooking for my family and LOVE to travel to new places!! (I'm always busy planning the next trip! LOL) My students already know that I am the #1 Tim McGraw fan - which is absolutely not a hyperbole! 🙂
Watching my students succeed and flourish through their hard work makes me so incredibly proud of them as young people. I truly enjoy sharing my love of literature with students, as well as bonding with them through their very personal stories they, in turn, share with me in their written composition papers. All of my students have taught me so much about the good in humanity and the power of walking a mile in someone else's shoes. As my beloved hero Atticus Finch tells us, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
I look forward to sharing another rewarding school year together with all of you. <3
