Grades 7-8
Junior Band is a full-year, performing ensemble that meets every "Even" Day, during 8th Period within the 6-Day Cycle. We perform in the Winter, Pops, and Spring Concerts. In addition to our school performances, we also participate in various festivals and trips including All-County, NYSSMA Solo-Festival/Majors, and biennial Rochester Trip!

Grade 5
Beginning Band is the first year of eligibility for students. The class meets for a full-year every "Odd" Day during 8th Period within the 6-Day Cycle. Students learn the fundamentals of their respective instruments and what it means to be a member of the Band. Students perform in the Winter and Spring Concerts. In addition to our school performances, we perform for the Utica Blue Sox and participate in the annual High Notes Festival at Great Escape Theme Park!

Grades 7-12
The SVC Jazz Band is an extra-curricular performing ensemble that meets every Thursday, 7-9. In Jazz Band, students learn about Jazz history, listen to Jazz music, learn basic improvisation, and apply their skills to Jazz performance. The Jazz Band performs for school and community functions. Additionally, the Jazz Band participates in local festivals including, The New Hartford Jazz Festival and NYSSMA Majors.

Grade 8
Music 8 is scheduled for one semester, every "Odd" or "Even" day, (1st Semester is Odd, 2nd Semester is Even), during 4th Period. The curriculum for Music 8 includes the following units:
Copyright/Music Industry
Acoustics/Sound Technology
Motown
Basic Guitar
Participation and proper note-taking is key for success in this class. Students need a designated "Music" notebook and a pencil for every class. Many lessons/materials are posted on Classroom and should be viewed if a student is absent.
