We strive to have a collaborative and welcoming Music class every day. To achieve this, students are expected to follow "The Quaver 5":
Be Safe
Keep your hands and feet to yourself, be aware of your surroundings when moving around, and stay in safe and responsible places; also, keep your hands away from your face to avoid spreading germs
Be Polite
Raise your hand to talk/ask questions, use appropriate and kind words, and use your manners; when a teacher is talking, listen to them quietly
Be Cooperative
Follow teacher's instructions as soon as you hear them, and consider the requests of your classmates (if they are asking you to stop something, kindly stop doing it)
Be Responsible
Make good choices when using classroom tools/instruments, own up to mistakes, apologize to people when your mistakes impact them; when we're learning something new, put in effort and do your best!
Be Kind
Treat everyone with respect (including yourself!) and think about words/actions before saying/doing them, and think positively

Our Classroom Expectations for Instruments, manipulatives, etc.
Additionally, when we are using instruments or other learning tools, students are reminded:
Instruments, scarves, etc. are tools for learning, not toys for playing
Instruments, scarves, and other tools should never be near our heads/faces
If a student is not using an instrument appropriately, and/or not following the Quaver 5, their instrument/learning tool will be taken away.
Please note that students are always encouraged to sanitize their hands before and after using instruments/materials.
