Role of the Child Protection Conference service

The Child Protection Service is responsible for the organisation and delivery of Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) and Review Child Protection Conferences (RCPC). It is responsible for monitoring the progress and effectiveness of child protection plans in keeping children safe.

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 sets out the statutory responsibility of the local authority to convene an initial child protection conference where concerns of significant harm are substantiated, and the child is judged suffering or likely to suffer significant harm:
