EXCITING THINGS HAPPENING AT THE MUSIC ACADEMY!
On Tuesday 14 May, the music department had an exciting delivery: Three Marimbas and four Log Xylophones from African Musical Instruments in the Eastern Cape!
Mrs. Pienaar and Ms. van Niekerk unpacked and assembled them, and each class now have the oppportunity to play the beautiful instruments. We are very grateful for the new addition to our family.
On Tuesday 7 May, we had an evening concert for the Junior Choir, Music Makers, Violin Ensemble, and a few individual instrumentalists.
We are currently celebrating Michael Jackson as our musician of the month!
During class music, we will talk about his life and his music, learn some of his songs, and listen to some of his masterpieces.
There are two displays in the school: one in the Grade 3 passage, and one outside the music academy. These displays carry information, pictures, and the competition questions.
Children are encouraged to complete the quiz on a piece of paper, and submit it in the box outside the music department. At the end of six weeks, we will announce 6 lucky winners who will receive a certificate and a prize!

On Friday 15 March, some of our InterSen Phase students performed at Long Beach Mall as part of our fundraising scheme.
We were very proud of them as they played their instruments and sang together as a group.
On Friday 1 March, our violin tutors, Karla van Niekerk and Nadiah Mony, held a violin workshop as part of our fundraising initiatives. The workshop was based on the function of violins in film music, and focused on three techniques: dynamics, pizzicato, and tremolo.
Our Senior Choir, Percussion Band, Orchestra, Valentine's Band, and a Grade 6 flautist performed in the Culture and Sports Assembly on Friday, 1 March 2024.
Mrs. Pienaar, Ms. van Niekerk, and three of our Grade 7 music students serenaded the teachers as they arrived at school on Valentine's Day.
Benjamin Paul (flute), Hudson Paul (saxophone), and Kai van Koller (guitar) made us very proud as they played three love songs - Love Me Tender, Perfect, and Can't Help Falling in Love.
