Now that we have gained some knowledge around AI, what does it mean in education? How can I utilize this to improve my workflow? What should I be aware of and be cautious of when using these tools?

Let's hear from some teachers through Code.org on how they use AI within their classrooms.
There are exciting times ahead in education, but we do have to ensure some guardrails are up to protect all from potential data security problems, biased outputs, and equal access to the knowledge around these tools and AI Literacy. Walk through these slides and have a group discussion. What's coming up for you all so far?
As we develop our AI proficiency as adults, we must also consider how we foster AI literacy among our students. Consistent with our K-12 AI Literacy Scope and Sequence, our implementation plan includes integrating AI literacy into various content areas. Specifically, for grades K-5, AI foundational skills will be taught during library time within the coding unit. This approach ensures that our youngest learners begin to understand the basics of artificial intelligence, including algorithms and machine learning, and start to cultivate skills in ethical decision-making and responsible AI usage from an early age.
Take a few minutes and reflect on the prompt individually using the "Stop & Jot" form to gather your thoughts and then share out to the group.
What is a 'hallucination' within an AI output? In the context of AI, hallucinations refer to instances where the AI generates incorrect or misleading information based on its training data rather than factual accuracy. How might you recognize or vet its validity using our Supplemental Flowchart? Discuss the steps you would take to assess the accuracy of an AI's response and the indicators that might suggest the information is a hallucination. Additionally, consider sharing any personal experiences where you encountered such hallucinations in AI outputs and how you handled them. This discussion will help us refine our approach to using AI tools responsibly and effectively.
