Dual Credit Opportunities / Doble Crédito
Dual Credit provides students with the potential to earn high school and college credit at the same time. Dual credit options can be course or exam based. At Sunnyside High School these options include Advanced Placement (AP), College in the High School (CHS), and Running Start.
In today's world, two-thirds of all jobs require some post-high school training or education. Studies show students who earn college credit in high school are more likely to graduate, enroll in college, and complete college degrees.

College Tours / Visitas a Universidades
One of the exciting moments about planning for life after high school is planning for college visits. Encourage your students to participate in campus visits through SHS. Many college campuses have now added virtual tours to help get you started.
Not quite sure where to start? Check out the CampusTours website. You can search by name or state. If you do not see your school of interest visit the school website for more information, or have your student access their student Naviance account and explore college information and virtual tours. The Naviance Student account can be accessed by students by logging into their school Google account.

Paying for college is an essential piece to your conversation about your student's college plans. There are different options to help you and your student with this process.
Visit the Washington State Achievement Council website for more information and resources for paying for college or training. You can also access links to the FAFSA and WAFSA forms. Check out U-Aspire's Options to Cover the Bill for some tips and quick facts.
Looking for scholarships? Your counseling office will have information on a variety of scholarship opportunities. Are you interested in browsing on your own? TheWashboard.org and Goingmerry.com are free resources that provide scholarship information and match your student to scholarship opportunities. These resources are free and will require your student to create a profile which is a quick process. Not sure whether scholarships are worth your time? Be sure to visit the Washington Apple Education Foundation. They have put together this helpful resource that covers basic information about scholarships and applications, along with tips to help you in that process.
Have you been in foster care or were you homeless without a parent or guardian? The Passport to Careers program helps Washington students by providing money to pay for college or training. Click on the link for more information.
