Originally from Dallas, TX, I graduated from Duncanville High School in 1999, then attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. I graduated from HPU in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. From there, I worked at Texas Tech on my Master's degree in Microbiology, which I received in 2007. I currently hold an 8-12 Composite Science certification for the State of Texas and plan to complete my Google Educator Certification, Level 1 soon.
I was born in Dallas way back in 1981. I became interested in science after watching a documentary in 1993 about a research group off the coast of Costa Rica who used genetic manipulation to create DINOSAURS! The idea was to put these dinos in a park (but I think that ended badly ... 5 times) but that sparked my interest in the possibilities of science.
My interest in gadgets and technology began in 1989 when I joined Starfeet Jr. Academy and it opened my eyes as to what technology could become (many of which were proven true!)
In 2003, I married a beautiful fellow nerd, Kathy (a proud Roughneck alumni) who is now an Associate Professor of Chemistry at SPC. I also have three and half amazing children: Katelynn (9th), Karmindy (5th), Jaxon (Kinder) and Jadon/Kayleigh (expected in October).
I began teaching science at Upward Bound in 2005 and am still teaching for UB. My first classroom assignment was at Whiteface High School in 2007, and have taught numerous courses over the years. Those courses include: Biology, Honors Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, and Forensic Science. I also started a chapter of Science National Honor Society, UIL Robotics, and the Intel Science and Engineering Fair.
I am now looking forward to adding many more experiences as I begin a new chapter at Sundown High School.
