In AP Chemistry, students are provided with a college-level foundation to support future advanced course work in chemistry. Student cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based investigations, as they explore topics such as: atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium.
It is my hope that in my AP Chemistry class, students will develop a better grasp of chemistry and have a strong foundation in introductory college-level chemistry. I have structured the course around the six big ideas, enduring understandings, and science practices to encourage students with their understanding and appreciation for the study of chemical reactions.
I believe that in order to become better humans, we must ask questions and seek answers to questions we did not even know existed. We advance ourselves through inquiry and investigation and this course will be no different.

Students are expected read through each of the chapters listed on the reading schedule and take notes. They types of notes depends on the student, though Cornell Notes is encouraged. The schedule does not necessarily align with the teaching schedule so there may be a time in which the reading schedule is ahead or behind the teaching schedule. Every two weeks on Wednesdays (3rd period), or Fridays (7th Period), students will take a short quiz regarding the reading assignments. The quiz will cover two chapters.
If your team scores an A average on the quiz, the group will be allowed to use these notes on the next exam.
