Sofia has consistently demonstrated a commitment to core values throughout her academic journey. Her curiosity shines through in her proactive approach to learning, always seeking to understand beyond the surface and engage with challenging concepts. In moments of academic and personal challenge, Sofia exhibits courage, tackling difficulties with resilience and a determination to overcome obstacles. Compassion is evident in her volunteer work and empathy toward peers, fostering a supportive community. 

Oster Scholars’ Concrete Next Step: 

Sofia plans to attend SF State and major in Public Health. While attending college, she is also going to earn her EMT certification. Additionally, she plans to continue her volunteering around fire houses and attend the next round of Richmond’s Youth Public Safety 2-week long intensive Police and Firefighter Academy.
