The Oster Scholarship is awarded to Summit Public Schools students who demonstrate their Concrete Next Step and embody Summit's core values. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to ten students to make their Concrete Next Steps possible. To learn more, please watch the video below.
Oster Scholars will receive funding based on their postsecondary pathways.
Four-year college pathway: $20,000 total ($10,000 per year for 2 years)
Community college pathway: $10,000 total ($5,000 per year for 2 years)
Vocational pathway: $5,000 total for 1 year
A Concrete Next Step is a 3-5 year plan for a student's future after high school based on their unique purpose and values. The plan and next step is endorsed by the student's Personal Advisory Board. It includes multiple next step acceptances to choose from, and at least one acceptance must be to a four-year college. Ultimately, it represents a best-fit next step for the student.
The Oster Scholarship will be given as a result of a student’s 12th grade Oral Defense, evaluated by a Personal Advisory Board, to demonstrate the completion of the Concrete Next Step outcome.

The Oster Scholarship Fund is made possible by long-standing supporter and Summit Public Schools Board of Directors chair, Robert Oster, and his wife, Marion Oster.
Robert and Marion Oster are passionate champions of Summit Public Schools (Summit). They are committed to Summit's mission to collectively prepare a diverse community of young people with the skills, knowledge, and habits to attain economic empowerment and success in a chosen concrete next step toward Summit's vision of a fulfilled life. The Oster family established the scholarship fund to address the financial obstacles many Summit students face as they pursue their concrete next step after graduating high school.
