Summit School: Denali
Community College Pathway: San Jose City College
Field of Study: Nursing
Embodying Summit’s Core Values:
“Maddy has been a Denali student since 2014. She originally joined our school as a 6th grader. As a recent immigrant and English learner, she worked hard through middle school. Throughout middle school, she has continued to demonstrate an incredible commitment to integrity and responsibility — working hard to grow her academic skills. […] By her senior year, Maddy began to step into quiet leadership roles on campus. She continued to work very hard in academic settings and visibly accessed all of the support that her teachers offered. She started to bring her classmates along with her. On graduation day this past spring, Maddy stood in front of 1,000 guests and delivered one of the mentor speeches acknowledging how much her Summit education had meant to her.”

About the Oster Scholar:
I am a graduated senior from Summit Denali who was always determined to go to college and become an RN Nurse someday. So many things impacted my choice of being in medicine, such as wanting to help and take care of those in need, and being part of a camp also showed me that being around kids just brought so much joy. In my journey to this goal, I have learned many skills like leadership, time management, curiosity, problem-solving, and many others. I have so many motivations, one of them being my Parents, who I thank for making the effort and always pushing me to be the best and do the best at everything and anything. I have always been a shy person, very introverted. Still, life has given me so many opportunities to come out of my shell and be the best version of myself. I look forward to going to college, succeeding in all my goals, and achieving any challenges I face.
