Embodying Summit’s Core Values:

Jacqueline most powerfully embodies the core values of Compassion and Courage. As an aspiring healthcare professional, Jacqueline has demonstrated an incredible amount of compassion for all around her. As a student, she regularly goes out of her way to help her peers on everything from challenging math problems to college applications. At home, she takes incredible care of her hardworking family members by cooking them meals throughout the week. Most notably, Jaqueline has used her time during expeditions to volunteer at the Ecumenical Hunger Program. Each day for 6 hours, she packages and distributes 300 food bags for families in need. As one of the few Spanish-speaking volunteers in the organization, she leads the team in communicating with those in need. Furthermore, she always listens with her heart. Sometimes, there are so many families that the line goes down the street and Jacqueline will stay late to ensure each family is taken care of. 

Oster Scholars’ Concrete Next Step: 

Jacqueline Top is planning to pursue a degree in Nursing (BSN) from the University of San Francisco. She is most passionate about working with children and plans to eventually become a nurse practitioner in pediatrics.
