Our mission is to collectively prepare a diverse community of young people with the skills, knowledge, and habits to attain economic empowerment and success in a chosen concrete next step toward a fulfilled life.
In order to meet our mission and vision, we focus on supporting young people in demonstrating proficiency in our commencement level outcomes.
CNS Program Goal
Every student, upon graduation, has an acceptance and enrollment in a best-fit next step that is directly connected to their purpose-driven life plan. To achieve this, every student must have:
A purpose-driven 3-5 year long-term plan
At least two acceptances to a best-fit next step for after high school (at least one of those acceptances is to a good-fit or best-fit four-year college)
A community of support that will help the student transition from high school to and through their next step, something we call a Personal Advisory Board
Why?
“Educational opportunity should not depend on race, ethnicity, or income. Colleges and universities can be critical agents of change when it comes to boosting student success and eliminating access and success disparities for Black, Latino, and Indigenous students and students from low-income backgrounds.” Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Research shows that having access to college is still the top opportunity for socioeconomic mobility in the United States. Therefore, CNS is structured to keep this door open for all young people so they can make a fully informed choice upon graduation.
