OVERVIEW

This semester-long introductory course in video production is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the art and technical aspects of creating engaging video content. Through a hands-on and creative approach, students will explore the exciting world of video production, gaining essential skills in storytelling, camera operation, editing, and more. 


Throughout the course, students will explore various topics, including shot composition, lighting techniques, audio recording, scriptwriting, and post-production editing. They will learn to effectively use camera equipment, implement different camera angles and movements, and master the art of visual storytelling. Students will also develop skills in video editing software to refine and enhance their video projects, adding music, sound effects, transitions, and visual effects.


In addition to technical skills, this course emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Students will analyze and evaluate different video genres, explore the ethical considerations of media production, and develop a critical eye for visual and auditory elements. They will also engage in creative projects that promote self-expression, storytelling, and effective communication.


By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in video production, enabling them to create compelling videos with clarity, creativity, and technical proficiency. This course will empower students to express themselves through the medium of video, while fostering media literacy, teamwork, and digital citizenship skills.
