About Ms. Pomeroy
About Ms. Pomeroy
Magistra Pomeroy is entering her tenth year of teaching middle-school Latin, and her eighth year at LCJSMS. She fell in love with Latin while studying at Mount Holyoke College. She loved it so much that she wanted to become a teacher so that she could show her students how awesome Latin is!
After graduating from Mount Holyoke in 2015 with a B.A. in Classics, she taught middle and high school Latin for two years at a small private school in Katonah, NY.
In 2017, she began to work towards her Masters of Teaching Latin and Classical Humanities in the program at UMass Amherst. Upon graduation, she began working at LCJSMS in 2019.
Rebecca is so excited to meet her students this year! In addition to Novice Latin, she will be teaching the cycle classes 21st Century Skills, Media Literacy, and Crime Scene Forensics.
Rebecca's interests are: cozy video games, fantasy novels, her cats Cleo and Gilgamesh, and martial arts.

Naginata is a traditional Japanese martial art that uses a spear-like weapon. Ms. Pomeroy has been practicing Naginata for 14 years! She competes 3-4 times per year in regional, national, and international competitions. For more information, view the East Coast Naginata Federation website (here)*.
*ECNF is a non-profit organization dedicated to the spread and growth of Naginata on the East Coast. Ms. Pomeroy currently serves as President (as of Oct 2024) & as an assistant instructor.
