Renting your instrument

Q: Should I purchase an instrument?

A: No, we strongly recommend that beginning students RENT an instrument instead of purchasing. While you may find an instrument for sale cheaper than a month's rental fee, there is often a very good reason why the instrument is inexpensive and these reasons can make learning to play an instrument very difficult. Additionally, string instruments come in a variety of sizes that grow with the student. Please contact your school's instrumental music teacher before purchasing ANY instrument.

Q: Where can I RENT an instrument?

A: Instruments can be rented from any vendor of your choosing. We do work closely with the following vendors: Elefante Music (New Providence) and The Music Shop (Boonton) to name a few. See below for rental forms!

Q: The instrument rental fee is high for my family, are there any less expensive options?

A: If the cost of an instrument poses an undue burden to your family, school instrument rentals or loans are available. Please contact your child's instrumental music teacher for details.

Q: Do students need anything other than an instrument to start lessons?

A: Yes, please see the BAND or ORCHESTRA pages on this website for required and optional supplies. The music vendors we work with will have these supplies available for purchase.
