Pianists must bring:
Your solo repertoire and assigned music below. These scores should be printed, double-sided or taped for minimal page turning, and hole punched for a 3-ring binder
A journal or notebook
Pencils
Metronome (a metronome app installed on a device is fine)
Program Attire:
Please dress respectably and understand we are a pre-professional performing arts environment. Exercise good judgment and dress for comfort and easy movement. Midriff-baring clothing (crop tops), shirts with profane imagery or text, or excessively short skirts or shorts are not permitted.
Temperatures vary widely between the air conditioned indoors and sunny outdoors, so we recommend dressing in thin layers to allow you to move and work comfortably between different environments.
Performance Attire:
For our solo piano recital and in-house studio concerts: please bring a dressier outfit that will work on stage. This might be a summer dress below the knee, or nice slacks and a button down shirt or blouse. (Please note that the back wall of our stage is lined with black curtains, so wearing a non-black color for performances is advisable so you can be best seen.)
Festival Choir Concert: Juilliard-provided polo with black pants or below-the-knee black skirt, and dark shoes.
Your piano ensemble assignment and score is posted below. Please learn your part to the best of your ability and be prepared to rehearse with your ensemble on the first day.
We also request that you submit a progress video of your piano ensemble part to Dr. V (vivian.chang@juilliard.edu) by Sunday, June 22. This does not need to be a formal or fancy recording and will be used by the faculty to best prepare for your coachings.
