¡Hola y bienvenidos a la clase de español! My name is Michelle Noeldechen, and I teach Spanish 2 and 3 at SHS.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts from Marist College in 2023 with a major in Spanish and Adolescent/Special Education, with a minor in Psychology. I also earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Marist College in 2024.
I am originally from Fairfield, CT, but I have lived abroad in the beautiful cities of Madrid, Spain, and Bogotá, Colombia.

Spanish 2R:
In this course, students will continue building their Spanish language skills through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. We will explore grammar concepts such as stem-changing verbs, possessive adjectives, affirmative and negative words, and the differences between verbs like saber and conocer. Students will also learn to use the preterite and imperfect tenses to discuss past events.
Throughout the year, we will expand our vocabulary by reading Spanish novels and exploring topics such as classroom activities, daily routines, shopping, and navigating a Spanish-speaking community. Students will also learn about the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through literature, music, art, and traditions such as Día de los Muertos and quinceañeras. By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate with greater confidence in a variety of real-world situations.
Spanish 3R:
This course focuses on building proficiency and confidence in communicating in Spanish. Throughout the year, students will develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through a variety of engaging activities and authentic materials. We will explore topics such as health and wellness, outdoor activities, artwork and theatre, and community while learning about the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
Students will continue to expand their vocabulary and strengthen their understanding of Spanish grammar, with particular emphasis on the preterite and imperfect tenses, commands, and the subjunctive mood. By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate more effectively and express their ideas in a variety of real-world situations.
