Welcome Merrill Class of 2026!
I look forward to a great school year ahead. I know a new school year can be nerve wracking for so many of us. Please rest assured you are going to have the best school year. I look forward to meeting you all on the first day of school. Before that day, please read a few of the welcome letters that my students from last year wrote for you! You will find some great tips about me, 5th grade, and our year to come. See you in September!
Mr. Merrill
Dear Future 5th Grader,
I had your teacher for 5th Grade last year.
Here are some important tips you need to know. Always remember to have fun, raise your hand, speak up, and way more.
My favorite thing about him is that he loves to joke around. He also makes sure everything is okay and that you have a good place to work.
My advice for succeeding in fifth grade is that you make your handwriting extra neat because he might make you redo it. Also if you don't understand something you should take some time out of your day to get help.
He really likes it if you make sure everyone around you is happy and you care for others. He likes it if you write notes for others if they are not in the room or absent.
You will really like the way he teaches reading because you get to read with friends. You also get to read a variety of different books. I love to read on carpet squares!
Things that make him mad are if you don’t find the proper time or place to do something/say something. He also gets mad if you don’t behave for a substitute teacher like the way you behave for him.
You can make him laugh when you do good things. Also when you roast him and he gets you back in a matter of seconds.
He really likes it when everyone gets good grades on iready testing or a normal test. Try your best!
Never do these two things: lie to a teacher, especially himself. Also you shouldn't call others names no matter any situation.
Two funny things about him are that he tries to have a good time. He loves the Yankees! So if they lose you should come in the next morning and say… Do you need a broom?
The best parts of being in his class are brain breaks, and just having fun! He takes lots of things as a joke if it's at the right time.
Always remember to have fun and ask questions. Be careful because he can roast you back in a few seconds.
See you at Todd!
Dear Future 5th Grader,
I had your teacher for 5th grade last year. Here are some important tips you need to know.
Always remember to have fun because the year goes by quickly. My favorite thing about him is that he has classroom jobs and you could have checks to buy things.
My advice for success in this class is right your checks correctly. He really likes it if you write someone else's notes when they're out of the room. Also like it when the whole class gets along with each other.
You’ll really like the way he teaches math because he does a lot of fun and creative ways to teach us. Things that make him mad are if you lose your assignment/homework many times. Also if you like the Mets.
You can make him laugh when you say a funny comment at a buddy lunch. He really likes it when we all care for each other.
Never do these two things: 1. lie to a teacher. 2. Misbehave when we have a sub. Two funny things about him are that he sings a lot. He also has a good sense of humor.
The best parts of being in his class are brain games, and trying to make math center fun. Always remember to have fun throughout the whole year.
Sincerely,
A former 5th Grader
