Class Expectations and Grading Policy

Grading:

Assignments will be graded using several different rubrics aligned to NYS standards. All writing assignments and other long term projects will be graded based on a rubric. Overall grades are a combination of classwork, quizzes, tests, projects, homework, class participation and effort. 

Homework Policy:

Homework is an important part of your student's education. It is an opportunity for your student to reinforce the learning they did in school. Homework will be assigned two to four times a week. I try not to assign homework on Friday to be completed over the weekend but occasionally it is necessary. All assignments will be discussed in class before being completed at home. Homework will be graded based on completion and effort on a scale of 2. 

Student Expectations:

There are high expectations set for the students. To achieve these students should follow the following guidelines:

• Be Polite and complimentary toward others.

• Embrace your mistakes. They are learning opportunities and opportunities for personal growth. 

• Give your best effort everyday. 

• Show respect and compassion toward others.

• Reflect on your performance. 

• Practice safe behaviors at all times. 

• Help others who are in need. 

• Complete assignments on time. 

• Stay organized.

• Have fun!
