Key to Mrs. Pink's Science Gradebook:
Red exclamation mark (!) = a grade has not been entered by the teacher
0 means the work was due and was never turned in or the work was completely incorrect. These are not removed or changed. Please read the comments for that assignment on the portal.
There is no extra credit or redoing an assignment to substitute the original grade. You are responsible for turning work in complete and on time. There are plenty of opportunities for extra help from Mrs. Pink. Just ask!
Method Of Grading
Daily Questions 30%
In-class Assessments (Everything else) 70%
Total 100%
All work must include the student’s first and last name, class period and date. Up to 4 points will be deducted from each assignment.
All graded written work must be done in blue or black pen or typed 12 font. Do not use colored pens because teachers use these for corrections. This rule applies to all homework, quizzes and tests unless otherwise stated. Class work can be colored with pens if they are available. Graphs, pictures, diagrams and measurements may require pencils and/or colored pencils. The use of a computer/Chromebook is encouraged for all written work as it makes your revisions easier. If your work cannot be read, it cannot be graded!
It is important to rephrase ideas in your own words and not to plagiarize. When using text evidence the author’s words must be in quotation marks to give the author the credit due to him/her. The result of plagiarism will be the grade of 0.
All of your written work should be kept in a ½” binder in chronological (Date) order. This binder will be graded for completeness and neatness periodically. All loose science papers need to be placed in the binder. You will be told when to empty your binder, but you must keep all papers in order for the final assessment.
Homework and classwork are an important part of any course, as it builds a background of information from which additional classwork is developed or allows you to practice skills that will be needed not only in science but other classes and life as well. Since the class approaches information sequentially, work must be done on time in order for it to be relevant. Therefore, all work is a necessary, individual responsibility that must be fulfilled.
If absent, you will not be penalized, but it is your responsibility to get the assignment. You will have the same number of days you were absent to make up the assignments . For example, if you were absent for three days, you will have three days to complete the work that was assigned.
All work is expected to be handed in on time. All assignments are due on the due date for full credit, but will be accepted up to 3 pm on Friday of that week for partial credit. Any assignments not received by 3 pm on Friday will receive a ZERO.
There is NO Extra Credit given.
All missing work will be labeled in the grade book as a ZERO. If there is a ! (red exclamation mark),there is another issue with the work. See the note in the gradebook or know that the grades have not been entered.
A ZERO in the gradebook will not be removed - it means the work was not completed.
