I began my teaching career at a private school teaching 7th and 8th grade life science, earth science, math 7 and math 8. As much as I enjoyed that experience, I found myself pulled in a different direction. I then began my career at Todd Middle School where I have been since 2000. I have always taught science here but have also taught 6th grade math, ELA and reading.
I am also currently an adjunct professor and Fieldwork 2 Coordinator at SUNY New Paltz where I teach the fieldwork portion of the "How to teach math and science" class. There I am able to work with students from K-5 and my college students at a farm. We use the farm for many lessons!
I have dual NYS certifications in both Prek-6 elementary education and 1-6 special education. I also have my Wilson Multi-Sensory Reading designation and Orton Gillingham Classroom teacher designation.
2019-2020 I received an award for SUNY New Paltz for being a Mentor of future teachers! I am a NYS Master teacher as of January 2023.
I have been teaching 20+ years and still have a few more to go!
I have a wonderful husband who helps me coach the Science Olympiad team here at Todd. I also have 3 wonderful daughters, and a beautiful grandson! We have 3 dogs all named after cookies and 2 cats who think they are dogs. I love going to the gym and reading nonfiction education publications.
