Dear Parents and Students,
We are excited to announce that this year, Suffern Middle School’s 6th grade will present the musical The Lion King, Jr. It is our goal for every member of the cast and crew to have a positive, fun-filled experience. Please keep in mind, the production of a musical requires dedication and hard work, but the result is something to remember and be proud of for a lifetime.
Here is some information about our musical’s requirements and requests:
Important Dates:
The following dates should be marked in your family calendars now. Please reschedule any previously scheduled appointments to accommodate these dates. These rehearsals are mandatory, no exceptions or excuses. Please contact us for special circumstances.
**********************MANDATORY REHEARSALS**********************
Saturday, May 2, 2020 - MARATHON Rehearsal 9 am- 4 pm
May 4th - 6th (Monday-Wednesday) - TECH Rehearsals - (2:40-4:40 pm)
Dress Rehearsal Thursday - May 7th (2:40-4:40 pm)
Arrive at school: 5:30 pm…SHOWTIME 7:00 pm - May 8th
Saturday, May 9th - Arrive to school: 11:30 AM ...Matinee at 1:00 pm
Saturday, May 9th - Arrive to school: 5:30 PM 2nd Performance: 7:00 pm
Transportation:
Rehearsals usually will run from 2:40 until either 3:45 or 4:40. Buses are available at 3:45 and 4:40. If you are picking up your child, you must do so before the bus leaves, or the student will be required to take the bus home. This is school policy; there is no supervision after the buses leave.
Attendance Policy:
A signed permission slip is necessary for students to attend rehearsals.
Three unexcused absences will result in removal from a role in the cast. Students who will miss rehearsal due to illness must email Ms. Torres before rehearsal.
Rehearsal schedules will be distributed thru the week of March 25th.
Students will only need to attend rehearsals for the scene they are in.
Please check the rehearsal schedule before scheduling other appointments!
Rehearsal Conduct:
All participants are expected to show focus during rehearsals and refrain from excessive talking while others are rehearsing.
Cast members may complete homework when not rehearsing.
Cell phones are not permitted during rehearsals, and should be kept in backpacks. Unless asked to be used by the production team.
Gum, food, and drinks (other than water) are not permitted during rehearsals.
Please fill out the audition form and agreement/permission slip, which must be returned for a student to participate in the musical.
