Day 1: Take a ruler outside and find a flower or plant to measure. Take a picture and write down the measurement next to it or draw it exactly the size it is. Make sure it's something you can find again, because you can return to measure it EVERY week to keep track of its growth.
Day 2: Look around your yard or your neighborhood for a tree. Draw a picture or create a 3D model of it and try to label its parts. Talk with a family member about why trees are so important. Take a picture of your drawing/model or record your discussion and send it to your teacher.
Day 3: Find a rainbow of flowers. Take a walk and see how many different colors of flowers you can find. Not only do they brighten our lives, they provide nectar for the bees. Take pictures and send them to your teachers! Try to find out what kind of flowers they are.
Day 4: World Wondering-Take the time to wonder about how plants and trees help our planet. You don't have to do anything or write it down...just wonder.
Day 5: Collect leaves from trees in your yard or neighborhood. How are they the same and how are they different? Look at their shapes, colors, and other features. Make a leaf creature out of your leaves.
Day 6: Look at the clouds in the sky. Are they the same color and the same shape? Are they moving across the sky or standing still? If you can, use cotton balls on blue paper to create a cloud you've seen.
Day 7: Now that you are becoming so great at observing your world, create a pair of binoculars for yourself by recycling some materials in your house (such as cardboard tubes). Show us what your beautiful binoculars look like.
Day 8: We eat parts of plants! Sometimes we eat leaves, roots, stems, or seeds. Keep track of the fruits or vegetables you are eating today and tell us what part of the plant you're eating OR make a salad to try and eat all parts of plants!
Day 9: World Warrior-Do something great for our planet. You can clean up some garbage, plant something, or give water to our plants our trees. If we all do one little thing, it helps our world so much! Send a picture to your teacher!
Day 10: Watch this YouTube video to find out how to draw the Earth! You can pause it as often as you like. Show us your finished picture. You can also try to create the Earth from Play-doh if you have it! Create a model of Earth with whatever you have!
Day 11: Collect some different things in nature and make a Do It Yourself Wind Catcher by tying all of your materials to a large branch. Make sure it represents all that you love about nature!
Day 12: If you can, try to plant something inside of a clear container so you can see its growth. It can be grass seed, a bean, a piece of potato, a garlic clove, or an onion. Observe how it grows over time and keep a journal of it.
Day 13: A long time ago, people used only the colors they found in nature to make dyes for clothing or to create art. Try to create any picture you want by using petals, fruits, leaves, etc... Have fun and take a picture of your natural art work to send along!
Day 14: Wish for the World-If you could wish for anything for this world, what would it be? Why would you wish for that?
Day 15: In an out of the way place, either dig a hole or lift up a rock and look underneath. Is it a home for some creature in nature? How is it the same or different from your home? Draw or take a picture of what you found.
Day 16: Find a plant either inside your home or outside in your yard. Be a researcher and try to learn everything you can about it!
Day 17: Take a look outside your window. What is the weather like today? What kinds of activities do you like to do on a day like today? If the weather was exactly like this EVERY SINGLE DAY, would that be good for our planet? Why or why not?
Day 18: Find the biggest leaf you can find and measure it. Then find the smallest leaf you can find and measure it. Tape or glue them on paper so that we can see the difference. Create a math problem to show us the difference.
Day 19: Warning for the World-Some events are happening that are damaging our planet. Make a poster or a video announcement to tell people to stop doing something that harms our earth and why they need to stop doing it.
Day 20: Take a paper bag with you or a camera/phone and find something in nature:
-that is red
-that is pointy
-that is small
-that has a round shape
-that is shiny
-that the wind blows
