Students are welcome in the music room before the school day begins 

To try out instruments,  jam with friends, or sit at the table set up for drawing & writing

                Students should take care of basic needs before and/or after  

                enrichment classes. Procedures for urgent situations will be reviewed.

Groundrules 

For a comfortable, safe, & productive learning environment, students are expected to:

• Participate In Activities:  with accommodations as needed

• Promote A Community of Support

Names and Number Assignments

Students will be assigned numbers to help with the brief time to set up seating arrangements between classes. Students who are assigned numbers in their regular classroom will have the same number in music. For everyone else, the assigned numbers list will be shared with classroom teachers. There will be musical games & activities to help learn their numbers. 

Musical Warm Up Activities

As much as all of the above is necessary, music is the focus and we will get right to it with:

• Movement & Music

• Rhythm Games & Activities

• Vocal & Body Percussion 

        large and small group activities for upper grades

• Musical Name Games

Music is a universal way that people connect & express what can sometimes be difficult to find the words for. Students will have opportunities throughout the year to learn, create, improvise, and share ideas with each other. They will be introduced to this from the start with activities intended to be fun and engaging. There is a place for everyone to be part of our musical community.
