2025-'26 Welcome Letter

Dear Main Street Families, August 2025

I am looking forward to seeing your children in the music room next week. It was a joy teaching music at Main Street last year. I look forward to reconnecting with those who are returning and meeting students who are new to our school community. In addition to warming up with beginning of the year activities, the first few weeks will also be a time for reviewing goals and expectations in the music classroom. Students are expected to try their best and model The Main Street Way: Respectful, Responsible, Honest, & Caring so everyone feels comfortable and safe. They are also welcome to talk to me any time if they have any questions or need extra support. 

Trained in the Orff approach to teaching music, I will be integrating this pedagogy, with its focus on learning music through exploration & play into my lessons. Visit my website below if you would like to learn more. It will be updated from time to time as the year progresses. Main Street art instructor, Mandi Lopez, and I will be looking at ways to connect music and art through the year. The music room will be open for students early in the morning before the school day begins. Students are welcome to explore, ask questions, or jam with friends. I will also have a table set up for those who would prefer to write or draw during that time. 

Families are welcome to visit the music room. For those new to our campus, it is located behind the stage in the Cafeteria/MU room. You can enter through the stage door if it is open. There is also a door toward the back of the cafeteria (near the tall cabinets) that opens to a small hallway. You will see photos of musicians along the walls leading to my door. You can also reach out to me through email. If you prefer a phone conversation, please send an email with the best times and contact number for me to call you back. The music room will also be open during Back To School night for any families who would like to stop by.
