Webinar on mensural health & hygiene management 

The Swachhta Action Plan Committee (Sanitation and Hygiene Unit), St. Xavier’s College Jaipur in collaboration with Unicharm India and Global Hunt Foundation organized an Interactive Session on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management” on 14th May 2021. The resource person for the session was Mrs. Nitya Chaudhary, CSR Executive, Unicharm India. Keeping in view the objective of spreading awareness regarding sanitation and hygiene, the unit organized this lecture for all the female students, faculty members and staff of the college.

Sanitation and Hygiene Unit: SAP in collaboration with The Covid-19 Awareness Committee, St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur organized the first webinar of COVID-19 AWARENESS WEBINAR SERIES on 4th June 2021, under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The topic of discussion was “Learning from the Second Wave of Covid-19: Some Important Key Takeaways for Future Preparation”. The webinar was conducted on Zoom and was live streamed on YouTube.

The webinar aimed at increasing awareness of the participants in respect of health complications that arise as implications of Covid-19 and to understand the new variant of COVID-19 virus, and learning from the second wave, we tend to seek the best ways to prepare ourselves in a better way to fight the third wave of the pandemic. The esteemed resource persons for the discussion were Dr. Hema Singh, Consultant, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Metro MAS Hospital, Jaipur; Dr. Rajat Bhargava, Associate professor, Gastroenterology, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur; Dr. Nishtha Singh, Executive Director and Consultant, Asthma Bhawan Jaipur; and Dr. Raghav Shah, Consultant & Director, Dept. of Psychiatry & Deaddiction, Rajasthan Hospital, Jaipur. 

NO PLASTIC DAY 

SAP committee and Eco-Friendly club St. Xavier’s College Jaipur celebrated “International No Plastic Day” on 3rd July 2021. In the presence of Rev Fr Dr Arokya Swamy Sj, Rev Fr. Sherry Gorge and other dignitaries, PLEDGE to avoid single use plastic had been taken by all the staff members of college. To make our surrounding a better place to live we must avoid the use of single-use plastic and use alternates that are decomposable.   

SEVEN DAYS WORKSHOP

The Swachhta Action Plan Committee, in collaboration with MGNCRE-MHRD and SBM-G, GoR organized a seven-day workshop from 24 to 31 August 2021 on Swachhta Action Plan. The objectives of the workshop were to understand the concepts and challenges of rural sanitation, the policies and guidelines of GOI and state governments on rural sanitation, discussing the Swachhta Action Plan and its implementation aspects and understanding the sanitation technologies. The Chief Guest for the Inaugural was Sh. Vishwa Mohan Sharma, IAS (Director, Swachh Bharat Mission-G, GoR) and the Guest of Honour was Sh. Parag Choudhary, Additional OIC, SBM-G, GoR. Eminent personalities and resource persons addressed different sessions on issues pertaining to rural health, hygiene, cleanliness and awareness.

Institutional Social Responsibility and Extension Activities Cell (ISREA)/Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell (UBA), Life-Skill Enhancement (LSE) & 'Aanandam Cell and Swachhta Action Plan Committee (SAP) of St Xavier's College-Jaipur organized an orientation program at 12:15 PM on 20 September 2021 through a virtual platform The  program aims to strengthen students' thinking skills, social skills, personal self–management skills, and emotional skills, which will help them actively engage in college and other areas of society. The main aim was to orient students towards social commitments and explore how to make their country clean, green, and self-reliant. 

The program left students in high spirits and vigour. They were enthusiastic that they are an eminent part of these cells and committees.

SWACCHTA WEEK

Write up for swatchhta week

Recognising the vital role of colleges in spreading the swachhta awareness, the SAP Committee of St. Xavier’s College enthusiastically organised Swatchhta week from 27th September, 2021 to 02nd October, 2021. Keeping this mission in mind, various activities were organised, where all the students of the college were engaged in activities like cleanliness drive, plantation drive, Slogan writing, Video making, and Gandhi Jayanti celebration.


World Energy Conservation Day

Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Committee (Energy Management Unit) organised an online workshop to celebrate ‘World Energy Conservation Day’ on 14th December, 2021 from 12:30pm-1:30pm. The theme of the workshop was ‘Conserve Energy and Save the Future'. The objective of the workshop was to generate sensitivity and awareness amongst the future generations to use sustainable methods for preserving and conserving energy resources. The resource person for the webinar was Mr. Ashu Gupta. The session started with the blessings of our honourable Rev Fr. Dr. A Rex Angelo SJ Principal, St. Xavier’s College Jaipur. Fr. Principal enlightened us about how we can conserve energy by taking incremental steps in our day to day life. After that the resource person Mr. Ashu Gupta was invited on the online platform to share with us his deliberations on conserving energy for future use. The resource person highlighted on the various key points to on key issues such as optimum utilization of energy resources, resource scarcity, energy consumption, etc.

The session was open for discussion for the audience to ask some pertinent questions. The key takeaway of the session was to reduce the consumption of energy, especially from fossil fuels and to take steps for energy audit like monitoring and control, reduction of losses, maintenance, more efficient equipments, more efficient processes etc. In the end, Dr. Gaurika Chugh, Energy Management Unit Coordinator delivered the vote of thanks and thanked all those who participated in the webinar.

 

 

Installation of Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine: 8th March 2022




The Swachhta Action Plan Committee, in collaboration with Gender Study and Women’s Cell of St Xavier’s College took an initiative of installing a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine in the girl’s washroom on the occasion of Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. The machine was donated by an NGO named All About Happiness (ABH). The college management and a special guest inaugurated the machine. 


Sanitary Napkin Distribution Drive: 9th March 2022


The Swachhta Action Plan Committee, in collaboration with Gender Study and Women’s Cell of St Xavier’s College organized a sanitary napkin donation drive and awareness in Mahatma Gandhi Girls School, Goner. This drive was supported by Sabyasachi Care Foundation and EHCC Hospital. Dr Meenakshi Gaur, Gynaecologist & Obstetrician talked about female hygiene and solved the queries of the students. The drive not only helped the underprivileged with the donation but also raised awareness about menstruation and the urgency to uproot the hesitancy women and men feel in talking about it, considering it a taboo. Around 250 girls attended the drive and benefitted from the same.

 


STREET PLAY


Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Committee, St. Xavier’s College- Jaipur in collaboration with Xavier’s Theatre Society (XTS) has  organised a Street play on the topic “ Sanitation etiquettes and waste disposal” in two villages Chattarpura and Narrotampura adopted by our college under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) on 14th and 15th  March, 2022. The main objective to conduct this programme was to spread awareness amongst the villagers regarding how to manage and dispose of waste and to keep surroundings clean for a healthier environment. The students by their act demonstrated the sanitation etiquettes and methods  to manage waste. Villagers participated in a huge number were influenced and motivated by the act presented by the students of Xavier’s Theatre Society, St. Xavier;’s College- Jaipur.

It was a part of extension activities to create awareness in society by the Swachhta Action Plan Committee. Many more programmes like this will be organized by the committee to uplift  the living standards of the rural masses.
