As we begin a new school year focused on growth, reflection, and intentionality, we’re excited to share some important updates to our student life programming, including updates about the House System.
Over the past year, the STVM leadership team has collaborated with students, faculty, staff, alumni, the Executive Board, and other stakeholders to strengthen student life. Our goal is to build a vibrant program that prioritizes leadership opportunities and student-driven experiences.
One of our first steps was the return of a formal Student Council. This move reflects our commitment to elevating student voice and enhancing the overall student experience.
At the end of last school year, we conducted a student life survey. Students expressed a clear desire to reignite the Irish tradition and pride that have defined our school’s identity for decades. The survey results also showed that students wanted a stronger voice in decision-making and more opportunities for healthy competition and meaningful service.
With these strategic priorities in mind, and in collaboration with the Student Council and the Executive Board, we have decided to take a strategic pause with the House System at this time. Doing so will allow us to reassess its role as we work to ensure the most vibrant student life experience for our Irish family.
Don’t worry, the most loved parts of the House System will remain and will continue to be an integral part of our student life experience, including:
School-wide competitions and Olympic games
Strong Irish tradition and school pride
Meaningful mentoring experiences
Building bonds between grade levels
Service activities
Exciting pep rallies
Community building and leadership
Making memories and so much more!
We are excited to share some of the activities that we have already planned with student leadership for this school year:
Green Street Social, sponsored by Student Council
The return of the Bonfire and Senior Lock-In
Improved plans and venues for Homecoming and Prom
Prioritizing our gameday experiences both in the school day and in the student section
Freshmen Big Brother/Big Sister Mentoring Program
Grade-level faith-based retreats
Student-driven and collaborative service opportunities
A mentor experience for students as part of a homeroom/innovation block that prioritizes academic and social-emotional well-being.
Questions? Please feel free to reach out! We’d love to talk to you about any questions or concerns you may have. Email us at administration@stvm.com.
Families of new incoming Freshmen and Transfer students: your student should have received an email to their school email account inviting them to set up their MyIrish (formerly Blackbaud) account. Please click HERE to access a step-by-step guide on getting your student's account activated. If you encounter any issues, an email address is included in the guide through which you can direct any questions.
Chromebooks will be available for pickup at the Freshman Welcome Mass and Reception or on the first day of Orientation in the LRC. Transfer students will receive their Chromebooks on Tuesday, 8/18, during Orientation Day.
To better align with our school identity, we are rebranding Blackbaud to MyIrish. This change reflects our goal to create a cohesive, user-friendly experience that feels uniquely STVM. MyIrish is our community’s go-to platform for schedules, grades, important documents, the application process, and more.
Our goal is simple: to make MyIrish the central access point for our families and staff — and a platform that reflects the excellence and organization we strive for in every area of STVM life.
Please be sure to update MyIrish with your current contact information including cell phone number. In addition to email and social media, we also use an automated dial system to provide pre-recorded voice messages in the event of an emergency or school closure.
We are pleased to invite our new Freshmen families to our special Freshman Welcome Mass and Reception as we begin this exciting new chapter together. RSVP Here
Please join us for 8:30 a.m. mass at St. Vincent de Paul Parish. 164 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44303
Freshmen and their families are invited to meet directly at the church and sit in pews near the front. Please note that pews will not be reserved, so please plan to arrive early to Mass.
After Mass, we will gather at the STVM Student Center for a reception with light refreshments and a warm welcome from school leaders.
Students will also pick up their Chromebooks at the reception.
We look forward to celebrating with you and officially welcoming you to the Irish Family!

Families can easily manage their student’s lunch account online through PaySchools Central. This secure platform allows you to load funds, view balances, and track purchases anytime.
To get started:
Visit the PaySchools Central website.
Click “Register” to create your account.
Use a parent/guardian email address — do not use your student’s STVM email address.
When selecting the school:
Choose Ohio for the state.
Under District, select Saint Vincent-Saint Mary.
Once your account is set up, you can conveniently add funds online and ensure your student always has lunch money ready.
To ensure a safe and well-managed environment after the school day ends, a new After-School Policy will go into effect starting 8.21.2025. Here are the key things families need to know:
All students must be in a supervised activity or signed into the Extended Supervision Room by 3:15 p.m. each day.
A warning bell rings at 3:12 p.m., and a second bell at 3:15 p.m. signals that all students should be where they are supposed to be.
Extended Supervision (Room 131) runs from 3:15–4:30 p.m. at no cost and is required for students not in a supervised activity.
Pickup is at the Band Entrance only, and late pickups after 4:30 p.m. will incur a fee.
Students found unsupervised after 3:15 p.m. will receive an automatic AM detention.
Academic wings will be locked at 3:15 p.m. and are off-limits without staff permission.
This policy supports student safety, accountability, and responsible building use. Click here to read the full policy and procedures.
Starting this academic year (2025-2026), to maintain the integrity of a STVM Education, online credit recovery will no longer be permitted unless a student has an unavoidable, documented reason, such as a medical illness or an extended, excused absence.
Effective immediately:
Students who fail a required course must retake the course in person at STVM.
If an in-person retake is not possible due to scheduling conflicts, the student may be asked to repeat the grade or withdraw from STVM.
Any exceptions to this policy must be agreed upon in writing by the school counselor, the student’s parent/guardian, and members of the STVM leadership team.
We ask all families to help reinforce the importance of academic accountability and year-round learning. If you have questions about this policy or your student’s credit recovery status, please contact the Dean of Student Services.
In line with Ohio law, STVM is reminding all students and families of its cell phone-free policy. During school hours (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.), students will not be allowed to have their cell phones, smartwatches, or other personal electronic devices visible or active. These devices must remain silent and stored in lockers. If you need to reach your child in an emergency, please contact the school, and we will ensure your message is delivered promptly. Students will have access to school phones if they need to make a call or get in touch with an adult. At STVM, we believe that focusing on face-to-face interactions enhances our community. By keeping devices secure during the school day, we help students concentrate on their studies and build important relational skills for becoming engaged and productive citizens. Please review the Ohio Cell Phone Law and complete STVM Cell Phone Policy.
Please Note: The only acceptable electronic devices permitted to be used during the school day within the school building are school issued Chromebooks. No personal computers (i.e. laptops, Macbooks, etc.) are allowed.
NEWLY ADDED!
Based on the feedback we have received from our students and in collaboration with the STVM Student Council, we will be adding shorts as an option for the 2025-2026 School Year that will be permitted to be worn during the first and fourth quarters. This coming week, you will see the addition of the shorts options in the Lands' End uniform store; however, you may also purchase the shorts at a local store of your choosing. Shorts must meet the following guidelines:
The updated Uniform Policy for the 2025–2026 school year is available. In addition to returning vendors ProForma and Lands' End, BSN now carries approved items, including new Nike polos and crewnecks. Also new are Spirit Dress Down Fridays and revised uniform guidelines. Review the Uniform Policy here.
We’re excited to share that the BSN Uniform Store is officially open and ready for orders! All items will be shipped to the school and will be available for pickup in the STVM Bookstore.
Shop the Store: Visit the BSN Uniform Store
Personalized Items: Some items, like sweatshirts, allow for personalization. Families can choose to add a sport or activity by typing it in during the order process. The list below includes all current approved personalization options. BSN will print only the names that match one of these selections.
Unisex Crews: There are two crewneck options available—one Nike Fleece and one BSN version. While both are labeled “men’s” in the store, they are unisex as there are no separate men's and women's size options.
