Week 35

We will be doing review skills: identifying beginning and ending sounds. Telling details from stories and  developing our writing skills. We have researched sharks and giraffes and worked on writing about them.

In Math we finished up with our shapes and knowing the difference between 2-D and 3-D shapes. We have been reviewing addition and subtractions skills.

In Science/Social Studies we finished up learning about weather. We have been reviewing yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Also past and present.

Week 34

ELA We are reviewing our letters and sound. We will be learning about research writing.

Math We will continue learning base ten and creating numbers. We will work on identifying shapes.

Science/Social Studies We will continue learning about insects. We will continue learning about our community helpers and how others help us.

Religion We will learn that Jesus' followers love one another. 

Week 33

ELA We will learn the letter Ss and the sound for letter Ss. We will identify words that make the letter Ss sound. We will practice writing letter Ss. This is the last letter for us to learn. Please review letters and sounds as testing is coming up in preparation for kindergarten.

Math We will be working on base ten and recognizing that we can count by tens.

Science/Social Studies We will finish up learning that everything grows and start insects. We will also continue to learn about those that help us in community.

Religion We will recognize that we grow to be like Jesus.

Week 32

ELA We will learn the letter R and the sound for letter R. We will identify words that make the R sound. We will practice writing letter R.

Math We will finish identifying objects classified as heavy or light. We will continue to work on sequencing and recognizing our numbers.

Science/Social Studies We are working on identifying parts of plants and what they need to survive. We are also identifying people in our community that help us.

Religion We are learning that Jesus is the Good Shepherd.

Week 31

ELA We will be learning the letter U. We will identify that Uu is a vowel and makes two sounds in words.

Math We will continue learning about measurement. We will learn about weight and be able to tell wchich object is heavy or light.

Science/Social Studies We will learn about plants and their parts. We will learn what plants need to survive. In Social Studies we will learn about different job in our community.

Religioin We will learn that Jesus surprises his friends.

Week 30

This week we are reviewing our letters and sounds before Easter break. We are enjoying some Easter stories and going over details from the stories. In Math we are working on Ordinal numbers and how the show a particular place value in an order. Science/Social Studies we are recognizing changes in Spring. In Religion we learning that Jesus is risen and this is the most important part of the Catholic faith.

Week 29

ELA We will learning the letter P. We will identify the letter and sound. We will recognize words that begin with the P sound.

Math We will be working on recognizing the what is tall, short, heavy or light. 

Science/Social Studies We will identify and find signs of spring. We will identify ways we are workers.

Religion We will focus on welcoming Jesus.


Week 28

ELA Our focus this week is letter J. We will recognize and learn the sound to be able to tell words that begin with the J sound.

Math We will begin to recognize that we are able to measure objects eith using standard or nonstandard form.

Science/Social Studies We will be focusing on signs of Spring and How to be a good citizen.

Religion Theme is God makes food for us. 

Week 27

ELA This week we are focusing on celebrating Dr. Seuss week and Read Across America. We will be reading several Dr. Seuss books and learning about rhyming words.

Math This week we are doing review skills.

Science/Social Studies We are focused on how to be an observer of the world around us. We are beginning the unit I can be a worker in Social Studies.  

Week 26

ELA We are working on identifying the letter Dd and the sound for letter Dd. Please continue to review letters and sounds. We have started assessing students for report cards. 

Math We have been working on subtraction. Recognizing different strategies to help us find the difference. This is an assessed skill also. Continue to help you child recognize the numbers and counting.

Social Studies We have explored many different people that have made contributions to society for Black History month.

Religion Our focus this week has been Jesus wants us to pray.


Week 25

ELA We will work on identifing the letter Bb and words that begin with the B sound.

Math We will be working on subtraction, using manipulatives to take a group away or counting back on a number line.

Science/Social Studies We will be learning about people from Black History who have made significant contributions to society.

Religion We will learn that Jesus is both human and divine.

Week 24

ELA We will be working on letter Qq. We will learn that q has a special partner letter U. We will have a Q and U wedding on Friday.

Math We will begin to learn the concept of taking part of a group away and determining the difference left.

Science/Social Studies We will be covering significant people in Black History. We will identify several people and the contributions they have made to society.

Religion We will identify ways Jesus tells God's Good News.

Week 23

ELA We will identify the letter Gg and the sound for letter Gg. We will recognize words that begin with the G sound.

Math We will continue to identify and use strategies to add.

Science/Social Studies We will continue to identify transportation vehicles and the different modes they use.

Religion We will recognize that Jesus is The Good News.

Week 22

ELA We will identify the letter Oo and the sound. We will recognize words that begin with the Oo sound.

Math We will continue to use different strategies to add. This week we are focusing on using dominos to add.

Science/Social Studies We will identify different forms of transportation. We will recognize Ground Hog Day and make predictions if Spring will arrive early.

Religion We will recognize Jesus heals and makes us disciples.

Week 21

ELA We will identify the letter Cc and the sound. We will chose words that begin with the Cc sound and record them on our class chart.

Math We will build on the concept of adding one more to combine two groups to find the sum.

Science/Social Studies We will review the ways animals change to adjust to the winter season. We will use our STEM brains to build a den.

Religion We will understand that Jesus has the power to heal us through prayer.

Week 20

ELA We will identify the letter Zz and the sound. We will chose words that begin with the Zz sound and record them on our class chart.

Math We will introduce the concept of addition by adding one more.

Science/Social Studies We will identify who Martin Luther King is and what he contributed to society. We will also tell how animals adapt in winter.

Religion We will understand that Jesus gathers his followers.



Week 19

ELA We will identify and recognize the sound for letter Aa.

Math We will begin to learn addition by adding one more.

Science/Social Studies We will learn about migration and which animals migrate during the winter.

Religion - We will understand that we listen to Jesus in the Gospel

Week 18

ELA We will identify the letter and sound for Yy.

Math We will review sequencing and recognizing our numbers.

Science/Social Studies We will discuss and recognize what animals do when they hibernate.

Religion We will recognize and celebrate the Epiphany and Baptism of the Lord

Week 17

Polar Express Day Monday. We will watch the movie have pop corn and hot chocolate. We will do Christmas Activities the rest of the week.

Week 16

ELA - We will be recognizing the letter Nnand identifying the sound for letter Nn. We will be working on identifying words that begin with the Nn sound on our class chart. 

Math - We will continue to work on counting and cordiality. Knowing what number is missing in the sequence or counting and identifying how many are needed.

Science/Social Studies - I am special. We will continue to identify ways we are similar and different and what makes each of us special.

Religion - Theme for the week is Jesus is born to us. Preparation for our Christmas show.

Week 15

ELA - We are working on recognizing the letter Mm and identifying the sound. We try and recognize words that begin with the Mm sound.

Math - We are working on counting and cordiality. Putting our numbers in the correct order and placement. 

Science/Social Studies - We are continuing to discover how nature is changing around us. We are discovering how families share different types of culture and traditions.

Religion - We are preparing for someone powerful and good that is coming. 

Week 14

ELA -  We will be working on identifying the letter Kk this week. We will identify the sound for letter Kk and words that begin with the letter Kk.

Math - We will continue to recognize and sequence our numbers through ten. 

Science/Social Studies - We will continue to study  I can be a nature explorer  and   I can be me.  

Religion - We will identify how Advent prepares us to celebrate Christmas. 

Week 12

ELA - We will be working on the letter Xx this week. We will identify the sound and learn to write Xx.

Math - We will be working on sequencing our numbers. We will practice making a pattern.

Science/Social Studies - We will be learning about why leaves change color in the fall.

Religion - Theme God gives and sustains life.

Week 11

ELA - We will be working on the letter Ww. We will identify the letter, practice finding the letter, practice writing the letter, and identifing the sound letter Ww makes.

Math - We will be practicing counting to tell how many. We will also continue practicing making a pattern.

Science/Social Studies - We will observe and apple, and draw what we see. We will have an apple tasting. We will make applesauce.

Religion - We will recognize that we want to be ready for God all the time.

Week 10

ELA - We are working on the letter Vv. We identified the sound that letter V makes and words that being with letter V. Please review the letters we have learned in school.

Math - We have been working on sequencing our numbers 1-10. We are starting to recognize what a pattern is and how to make a pattern.

Science/Social Studies - We finished up with identifying our five senses. We made a puking pumpkin, and the class really enjoyed this!

Religion - This week the theme is the greatest person is the one who serves others.

Week 8

ELA - This week we are working on the letter Ll. We will identify words that begin with the sound and learn how to write the letter L. Please review the letters we have learned E, F, H, I, and T.

Math - We are working on the number 8. Identifying the number, counting 8 items, and writing the number 8. Please continue to review the numbers 0-8.

Social Studies/Science- We will try lemon and lime. We will learn about our Five Senses.

Religion - We will learn that Jesus teaches us to praise God.



Week 7

ELA- This week we are learning the letter Tt. We will identify words that begin with the T sound. We will learn to write the letter T.

Math- We will identify the numbers 6 and 7. We will count objects to tell the number. 

Social Studies/Science- We will explore "All About Me"

Religion - We will identify how Jesus invites us to his table.

Week 6

ELA - We will learn letter H and identify words that begin with the H sound.

Math - We will review numbers 1-5. We will recognize the numbers and count to tell how many we have.

Social Studies/Science - We will continue to learn appropriate behavior in the classroom. We will continue to learn how we observe to record the weather just like scientist.  

Religion - We will learn that Jesus teaches us through his stories.



Week 4

ELA: We are reviewing letter Ee and Ff.

Math: We will identify, count and write the numbers 4 and 5.

Science/Social Studies: We will discuss, identify and recognize appropriate behavior in the classroom.

Religion: We recognize God's Love is Generous.



Week 3

ELA: We will be working on the letter Ee this week. Please practice reading the Itsy Bitsy Letter E book. Have your child help you identify words with the E sound.

Math: We will continue to recognize the numbers 2, and 3. We will practice counting the correct amount. We also count each day to 20.

Science/Social Studies: We will make elephant tooth paste. We will also learn about making the better choice at school.


Week 2

ELA: We will learn the letter Ff this week. Please practice reading the Itsy Bitsy Letter F Book.

Math: We will learn the numbers 0 and 1. We will learn how to tell if we have zero objects or one object.

Science/Social Studies: We will learn how to use our listening ears and to sit nicely on the carpet for learning.

Religion: We will learn that we pray several times a day.

Tuesday 10/18 I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and the Harvest Festival! Today we are back to routine. We started with our special Art and enjoyed making beautiful pictures. Then in ELA we worked on identifying the letter and sound for L. We practiced finding the letter L using our dabber. We read the book My Sound Box L and identified words that begin with the L sound. We work on reading our Itsy Bitsy Letter L Book and tracking print.  In Math we worked on making a pattern with leaves. Then colored our leaf pattern. In Science we learned about an apple orchard and drew what an apple looks like. In Religion explored likenesses and differences. 

Wednesday 10/19 Today we started our day completing our calendar and weather graph. Then we went to Physical Education where the class played games and had fun. In ELA we continued with the letter L sound and identifying words that begin with the L sound. We read the book Ladybugs and recalled facts about them. We made a ladybug craft to help us recall facts about ladybugs. Then in Math we worked in small groups to order ladybugs by size, from smallest to largest. In Science we had an apple tasting and graphed our favorite to determine which type the class liked the most. In Religion we recognize Jesus prefers people who don't put others down.

Thursday 10/20 In ELA we focused on telling the main character in the story Llama Llama Home With Mama. We then made a llama to recall the main character and tell what she did in the story. We continued with the letter L and identifying words that begin with the L sound. In Math we are still working on making patterns and finding them around us. In Science we used our sense of taste to try a lemon and lime and identify which was liked by more classmates. Then in Religion we identified the "Golden Rule" treat others the way you want to be treated.

Friday 10/21 Today in ELA we continued with letter L and identifying the beginning sound. We practiced writing the letter L. Then we read the story The Lamb Who Loved To Laugh and practiced tracking print with our magic pointer finger.  We also learned a luau dance. Then in Math we played a roll and graph game to see which figure was rolled the most. Then for Science we made applesauce and tried our creation. It was yummy. In Religion we recognized all people are important.


Monday 10/10 I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Do not forget if you have not turned in your field trip permission form or payed please do so ASAP. This week we are reviewing our letters that we have learned so far. We will learn about pumpkins. We will listen to the story It's Pumpkin Time then learn how to sequence the steps to carve a pumpkin. In Math we learn what a pattern is and how to make a pattern. Then in Science we will observe a pumpkin and record what we found out about the pumpkin. In Religion we recognize that we need to try our best and be persistent.

Tuesday 10/11 We started our day in Art class. In ELA we worked on reviewing our letters and sounds for F, E, H, I, and T. Please continue to review at home as well. We read the story Spookley The Square Pumpkin and made a Spookley treat to recall the main character. In Math we worked on making a pattern and practiced writing our numbers. In Science we carved our pumpkin. Lastly in Religion we understand that God loves us and answers our prayers. 

Wednesday 10/12 Today we read Five Little Pumpkins and discussed the main idea of the story. We then created a craft of the inside of a pumpkin. We continued to review our letters and sounds for F, E, H, I, and T. We practiced writing our letters. Then in Math we continued to work on pattterns. We made a pattern from cubes. Then we practiced sequencing our numbers. In Science we made pumpkin pie cups. We are learning that pumpkin can be used for many things. In Religion we learning what prayer is and when we pray. 

Thursday 10/13 Today we began doing our opening, recording the date, and graphing the weather. Then we went to the Harvest Festival. The class had an amazing time playing all the games! Thank you for your help. Then in Math we played  a game roll color and graph to see which creature comes up the most or least. Then in Science we made a puking pumpkin. The class thought this was very funny. In Religion we are learning how to express our petitions to God.




Monday 10/3 Today we started letter T, identifying the sound and sign. We thought of words that start with the T sound to add to our class chart. Then we practiced tracking print in our Itsy Bitsy letter T book. Please review these each night. Then in Math we are working on sequencing our numbers 1-10. It takes a lot of work to recognize the number then determine where it belongs when we count. In Science we are learning about our five senses. We determined what they are sight, hearing, touch, taste, and  smell. In Religion we recognize the importance of giving thanks.

Tuesday 10/4 Today we worked on identifying words that begin with the T sound and record them on our class chart. Then we listened to the story The Little Engine That Could. We discussed who the main character was in the story. We also discussed the main idea and how the Little Engine helped others. We made a train using the letters of our name as the box cars. They had to order the letters of their name and glue them down. We hung them in our hallway. Then in Math we continued to work on sequencing our numbers one to ten. Some need practice with this concept so we will continue to work at this skill as counting becomes better. Then for Science we used our sense of hearing to identify what instrument we heard. Lastly in Religion we talked about what actions we say thank you for. 

Wednesday 10/5 Today we started our day with going to Physical Education. Then we worked on our letter T sound and then added words that begin with the sound to our class chart. We listened to a story Traffic Signal, and discussed the main idea. We created a traffic light using our fine motor to tear and glue paper. Next in Math we practice counting to twenty. Then we worked in a group to order our numbers 1-10. Then in Science we used our sense of smell to identify different scents.  Lastly in Religion we recognize that Jesus cares for others leave out.

Thursday 10/6 Today we enjoyed singing with Mrs. Jennings in Music class. We sing a lot of fun songs. In ELA today we are finishing with the letter T, recording words that begin with the T sound and writing letter T. We listened to the story Tammy Turtle and made a turtle craft to remind us of the main character and main idea of the story. In Math we worked together as a group to order our numbers 1-10. Then in Science we used our sense of tough to figure out what was hidden in the bag. In Religion we thank God for all of our gifts. 




Monday 9/26 Today we started by attending physical Education, where the children had a great time learning new games. Then in ELA we learned a new letter. We learned the sound and to recognize the letter I. We identified words that begin with the I sound and recorded them on our class chart. Then we made our letter I hat. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter I book, please practice reading these each night. In Math we will be reviewing the numbers 6-10. We will practice counting one to one correspondence and writing the numbers. Then in Social Studies we are learning ways to work things out and get along. In Religion we recognize growth around us. 

Tuesday 9/27 We started our day going to Art and creating beautiful work. Then in ELA we continued with the letter I. We are working hard at identifying words that begin with the I sound and practice writing our letters. Then we read the story Iguana on Ice, and used our magic pointer finger to track print. We also have been working on identifying the main character. We made an iguana craft to remind us of who the main character was and what he did in the story. Then in Math we are reviewing our numbers 6-10 and showing the number in a tens frame, counting objects by various numbers and counting to twenty. In Social Studies we were detectives and were looking for friends showing kindness to one another. In Religion we understand that we can trust Jesus.

Wednesday 9/28 Picture Day! We worked hard on identifying words that begin with the I sound. Then we hunted for letter I using our dabber. We listened to the story Inch By Inch then created an inchworm for the main idea. In Math we worked on showing the number eight in a tens frame and counting eight objects as part of our review of numbers 6-10. Then in Social Studies we listened to the story Some Kindness Bring Some Light. We then drew a picture of how we show kindness to our friends. In Religion we recognize that Jesus is always with us as we grow up.

Thursday 9/29 Happy Dollar Day! The class is doing a great job becoming familiar with our routine. They have learned how to unpack for themselves and put their belongs where they go independently. Our class completes the calendar each day and graphs the weather. These will come home at the end of each month. In ELA we listened to the story George Builds An Igloo. We discussed the character in the story and the main idea of the story. We created an igloo to recall the main idea. Then in Math we we continued to review our numbers 6-10. We focused on number nine today. We counted nine and showed nine in a tens frame. In Religion we continued with the concept that Jesus is always with us as we grow up.

Friday 9/30 Happy Friday! Today we practiced writing letter I and finished our class chart of I words. Please continue to review the letters and sounds. Then we listened to the story Ice Cream Sunday. We played a game and rolled a dice to add cherries on top of a sundae. Then in Math we reviewed our numbers to ten. We played another dice game with a partner. We rolled the dice identified how many dots then found the number to color in the igloo.  Next in Science today we made ice cream in a bag. We let it freeze while we had play time and rest. Then for Religion we showed how we are thankful for gifts God provides us and ate our ice cream. It was Yummy! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.




Monday 9/19 We had P.E. today first thing. The class enjoyed running around and learning games. In ELA we started learning the letter H today. We identified words that began with the H sound and recorded them on our class chart. Then we made our H hats. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter H books and are learning how to track print. Then in Math we recognized the number six. We practiced counting six items. In Social Studies we continued to work on how to be a kind friend. Then in Religion we recognize the sadness of people left out.

Tuesday 9/20  We started our day completing our calendar and graphing the weather. Then we enjoyed Art class with Mrs. Silvis. Today we listened to the story Harold The Hedgehog. We are learning who the characters are in the story. We made a hedgehog craft to remind us of Harold the main character. We also worked on letter H and the sound H makes. We record words that begin with the H sound on our class chart. In Math we identified the number seven and counted objects to show the number. We practiced finding the number. In Social Studies we have continued with the concept of kindness. We identified ways we can show kindness toward others. 

Wednesday 9/21 Today we worked on the letter H. We practiced finding H, identifying words that begin with the H sound. The we listened to the story The Wild Little Horse. We discussed who the story was about and then created a horse to remind us that the focus of the story was little horse. We enjoyed time in Physical Education playing new games. In Math we recognized the number eight and counted eight items. We then practiced find the number eight. In Social Studies we talked about how to show kindness then sorted pictures of kindness verses unkind. In Religion we recognize that God cares for the poor and vulnerable.

Thursday 9/22 Happy first day of Autumn. We worked hard today, we continued learning words that begin with the H sound. We are working hard at learning how to write the letter H also. We listened to the story The Giving Tree and identified ways the main character was very helpful. We discussed ways we can be helpful in our class and to others. We identified the number nine and counted nine counters. Then we practiced finding the number nine with our dabbers. In Social Studies we sorted pictures of ways to be kind toward our friends. In Religion we recognize Jesus teaches us to share God's gifts. 

Friday 9/23 Happy early dismissal. Today we worked on letter H and identifying words that begin with the H sound. We practiced writing the letter H too. Then we read the book Harriett The Hippo. We discussed who the character is in the story. Then we created a hippo puppet to recall the main character of the story. Ask your child if they can tell you about Harriett. In Math we counted to twenty with our movement song. Then we identified number ten. We practiced counting ten items. Then we looked for the number ten. In Social Studies we continued to practice recognizing kindness. We finished up our SEEDS for the week and the pamphlet will come home today, please review with your child the concept that we can share God's gifts.


Monday 9/12 We started our day going to Physical Education. They had a great time learning new games. In ELA we are leaning the letter Ee this week. We will learn the sound, words that begin with letter E, and how to write the letter E. We are learning to trace print, and what print is, and how it makes words on a page for us to read. We started by reading our Itsy Bitsy Letter E Book. Please practice reading these books each night with your child. In Math we learned to recognize the number four today. We practiced counting four items. We practiced writing the number four. In Social Studies we learned that choices we make can have consequences on others. We started our Religion program, which is called Seeds. Each week they will receive a pamphlet that is kept here until Friday. When it comes home you can review with your child each weeks lessons. 

Tuesday 9/13 We enjoyed Art class today, reviewing our colors and drawing pictures. In ELA we are working on learning that letter E has two sounds. We were trying very hard to identify words that begin with the E sound. We listened to the story Elmer The Elephant and talked about how we treat our friends. We made a patchwork elephant to remind us of Elmer and the special qualities each friend has to offer. In Math we recognized the number five. We counted five items from our pencil cases. Then we worked on writing the number five. In science we made elephant toothpaste. We started our Seeds and we recognize that we are part  of a church family also.

Wednesday 9/14 Today we started with our opening, they are learning the prayer, pledge, and completing their calendar and weather graph. They are doing a great job at getting all of these things accomplished. The class went to Physical Education and played listening games. We are working hard at following directions. In ELA we listened to I Am Earth. We are working on recognizing the topic of the text. We also continued to work on the sound for letter E. In Math we are reviewing numbers 0-5. We are practice counting, making, and writing numbers 0-5. In Science today we did an Earth walk, looking for things that we heard about in our text. We also were looking for wonders of God's creation. In Religion we are learning that Jesus asks us to love God.   

Thursday 9/15 We started our day with opening and recording in our calendar. Then we continued working on the letter E and the sound E makes. We listened to the story An Extraordinary Egg. We are working on identifying the main topic of the story. We painted an egg to reinforce the main idea of the story. We then had Music with Mrs. Jennings, the class is loving the singing. In Math we will continue to review numbers 0-5. We will practice writing the numbers, counting objects for the various numbers, and making the numbers with playdough and wiki sticks. In Science we are observing what happens with an egg in three different solutions. We used water, vinegar, and soda, to see what happens. In Religion we are learning that we go to church to celebrate mass.

Friday 9/16 Happy Friday! We completed our first full week. The class is adjusting well. Today is a long day for use because we do not have a special. In ELA we are finished up with the letter Ee today. We recorded E words on our class chart, practiced writing E, and finding pictures that start with the E sound. Then we read the story The Enormous Elephant Show. We created an elephant to help us recall the topic of the story. In Math we worked on reviewing the numbers 0-5. We practiced counting objects to 5. Then in Social Studies we are working on identifying ways to be a good friend.  




Tuesday 9/6 Today we started by going to Art class for the first time. We learned the letter F and listened for words that begin with the F sound as we listened to a song. We then recorded words that begin with the F sound on a class chart. We learned the sign language for the letter F. We will continue with these skills through the week. We read our Itsy Bisty Letter F Book. Please review these with your child through the week. In Math we started with the number 0. We counted to twenty, then made a 0 with our playdough. In Social Studies we learned what it means to be a good class citizen. We reviewed appropriate behavior for  in the classroom. Then in Religion we learned about the sign of the cross.

Wednesday 9/7 Today we went to P.E. and the class loves learning all the games. In ELA we continue to work on letter F, identifying words that begin with the F sound. We will practice finding the letter F and writing the letter F. We listened to the story Rainbow Fish and made a beautiful rainbow fish. We discussed how we need to be kind to our friends. In Math we learned number one. We counted one item, identified number one and wrote number one. In Social Studies we reviewed our class rules and then drew a picture of ourselves show how we act in class.

Thursday 9/8 Today we had Music class. The children enjoyed dancing and singing with Mrs. Jennings. We continued to review the letter F sound. We practiced writing the letter F and identifying words that being with the F sound. In Math we learned the number two. We practiced writing two and counting two and making two with our playdough. Then we continued to talk and tell ways we are good classroom citizens. 

Friday 9/9 Happy Friday! We started our day with our Hello song, prayer, pledge, calendar and weather. We learned how to record the date and graph the weather today. We finished with letter F, so please continue to review the sound for letter F. We listened to the story Pete The Cat Firefighter Pete. We made a fire craft and talked about fire safety. In Social Studies we discussed how we practice for a fire. In Math we recognized the number three, and made the number three with playdough. We also practiced writing the number three.

We continued to work on our End of the Year crafts. We did a Father's Day craft today which involved many steps. We also did a Summer Time counting worksheet. The children cut out the pattern, then had to finish the summer objects pattern, and glue the correct item down. We also read Beach Day. The children had to make a beautiful beach with the ocean and sea animals. These look great and will be coming home today.  

Tuesday 6/1 - Please let me know if you are able to clean toys by sending me an email. Service hours do apply. We continued to work on our End of the Year crafts. We did a Father's Day craft today which involved many steps. We finished up our beach craft from yesterday.  We practiced sorting and and ordering our numbers 1-10. In Science we learned some facts about sharks. We continue to perfect our songs for the closing show.

The children are doing such a great job remembering the words and actions together. We are working on end of the year crafts, projects, and Memorial Day activities this week. In ELA we learn about Memorial Day and how we remember that fought for our country and have passed on. We then made a beautiful cross craft. We colored the cross. We added a stem, leaves, and a poppy flower in remembrance. In Math we colored a Memorial Day picture by following the numbers.

In ELA we sang along with our phonics song and then fount the beginning sound for some pictures. Then we listened to the story Memorial Day Surprise. We painted fireworks in celebration. Then we worked on our end of year projects. We practiced our songs on the stage for the first time too.

Wednesday is Dollar Day for those that pre-paid and Thursday is Chick-fil-a day for those that ordered. The end of the year is approaching and it is a busy time! We are working on camping this week.    To review our letters,  then we practice by identifying the missing letters.  We began to make a list of things that we should take on a camping trip. I was proud of all of the ideas that the children thought of. In Math, we reviewed the words taller and tallest and found the figure on our worksheet. Then in Science we talked about an activity that we did yesterday, something we did today and would like to do tomorrow.   In Religion, we did pages in our workbook. 

Tuesday 5/17 - Please remember to return the Field Day permission slips as well as the end of the year paper letting us know how many people will be attending. Wednesday is Dollar Day for those that pre-paid and Thursday is Chick-fil-a day for those that ordered. The end of the year is approaching and it is a busy time! We are working on camping this week. In ELA, we practiced identifying the beginning sound from pictures. Then we listened to the story Llama Llama Loves Camping. We created lanterns and discussed how they are useful when we go camping. We then made our own lanterns by coloring them in and adding red, yellow, and orange with construction paper to create the illuminated part of the lantern. In Math, for our warm up, we did a ten frame activity. We looked at some camping worksheets and the children had to draw the correct number of dots on the ten frame based on the camping pictures. We also did a summer camp ten frames activity.  In Religion, we finished up our workbooks and they come home yesterday and can be kept at home. We also practiced our end of the year songs. They are working hard to memorize their songs. 

Wednesday 5/18 - Today is Dollar Day and tomorrow is Chick-fil-a day for those that ordered. Please remember to send in Field Day permission slips as well as the end of the year slips letting me know how many people will be attending.  We practiced identifying the beginning sound of a picture. Then we listened to the story We're Going On A Bear Hunt, and sequenced the main events of the story. In Science/SS, we discussed things that are safe or unsafe to touch or do.  In Math we reviewed how to make a pattern, then we practiced counting and graphing camping items.

Service hours do apply. In ELA, we looked at some camping pictures. The children had to say the picture and then had to write the beginning sound of the picture. They did a great job with this. We read the story Curious George Goes Camping. Then we practiced writing our letter of the alphabet.   In Math we ordered our numbers to make a picture. In SS/Science we did our Camping Listen up worksheet. The children had to follow the directions. We practiced our end of the year songs! 

Friday 5/20 - I hope everyone has a great weekend. Please remember that this weekend is the Mother Daughter dance. Also, please continue to return the field day permission slips and the end of the year celebration forms. We had a busy day practicing for our songs, practicing our retirement song for Mrs. Madgar. We read the story Scaredy Squirrel. Then we played camping bingo today. The children had to shout lets go camping if they won bingo! In Math, we did a tent dice worksheet. There were numbers on the tents and the children had to roll the dice and then count the number on the dice and then dab the tent. They did a good job with this! In Science/SS we did an experiment to create a leak proof bag. We filled a gallon water bag and poked pencils through the bag. The class was amazed that the water did not spill out!




Monday 5/9 - I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day weekend! We started our day with a lot of excitement. We had P.E. Then we got ready for our field trip to the zoo. Our class had a great day at the zoo. 

Tuesday 5/10 - Thank you to everyone who came to the zoo. We had so much fun, the children came in chatting about it this morning and sharing their favorite animal. On Thursday, it is race for education out of uniform and also pizza day for those that participated in Race for Education. The children that can be out of uniform on Thursday are: Charleigh, Jensen, Elliot, Rex, Audriana, Owen, Luke, Cameron. Please remember to send in your white shirt by Friday with $2.00 for tye-dying for Field Day. A letter is also coming home today with information about our End of the Year show. Please let me know if you have any questions.  We are finished the alphabet! Woohoo! We are going to be doing a lot of review for our assessments over the next two weeks. We are working on zoo animals this week. We read the story Neck and Neck, we shared our favorite zoo animal. Then we practiced writing our letters, and finding the beginning sound from pictures. In Math we counted to 100 with zoo song, then we put our numbers 1-10 in order to make a zoo picture. In Science we continued to identify the clothes we should wear in different seasons. In Religion we finished up a few pages in our workbook then practiced our End of Year songs.

Wednesday 5/11 - Please remember to read over the paper that was sent home yesterday regarding our End of the Year show and let me know if you have any questions. Also, please review the Field Day paper that was sent via e-mail. Our Pre-K parents are encouraged to stay during the duration of Field Day. Please remember to send in all white t-shirts by Friday if possible with $2.00 inside. We had a few parents volunteer to tie-dye them. I appreciate your help with this. We are running very low on tissues if anyone would like to send in a box. Thanks so much! In Math, we did a cut and paste zoo animal worksheet. The children had to cut out the numbers, count the zoo animals, and glue down the correct numbers. Then they had to color the zoo animals and make a pattern using two colored crayons for each one. 

Thursday 5/12 - Please continue to return Field Day permission forms and also end of the year celebration slips. Tomorrow the children are encouraged to wear sunny day yellow shirts and sunglasses. I will be providing a snack so please do not pack a snack. In ELA, we are continuing to review our letters. We cut out the zoo animal letters of the alphabet and then glued them down in the correct order. As we glued them on, we practiced making the letter sounds. We read The Letters Are Lost. We made a list of all the different kinds of zoo animals. We also played zoo animal bingo again. In Science we continued to learn about zoologist and how they care for animals, then we wrote about our favorite zoo animal. In Religion, we began learning about Saint Julie. We colored a picture of Saint Julie after reading a short story about her life. 

Friday 5/13 - In ELA, we are continuing to review our letters. We practiced identifying the beginning sound from pictures. We also looked for letters around the room and colored the letter when we found it.  We did a zoo animal pattern worksheet. The children had to cut out the pieces and finish off the zoo animal pattern. Then we practiced subtracting zoo animals. In Science we had a peek at some zoos around the world. In Religion we continued to learn a bit more about Saint Julie and watched Mass remotely. We are continuing to work on End of the Year songs for our show. The children are doing an amazing job and I am so proud of them. Have a great weekend!



Monday 5/2 - I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. We are working on our last letter of the alphabet, S! We watched a letter Ss video, added some Ss words to our class chart that began with the S sound. Then we practiced writing the letter Ss. We read My Letter Ss Sound box book. We then made our own mini book by coloring the pictures, cutting them out, and reading it together as a class. We have been working hard on our Mothers Day crafts. Today we continued to work on the card and  finished a project that will be coming home. In Math, we are continuing to work on review. We worked on adding to ten in our tens frame. Then had to identify the number they had then tell how many more they need to get to ten. In Science, we are talking about Seasons. Today we reviewed what the seasons and named them. We looked a pictures, cut them out and then glued them on according to each season. In Religion, we did our new seeds song and seeds prayer. We will read the story Who takes care of Toby? and we will talk about responsibilities and who takes care of you.

Tuesday 5/3 - Please remember that our Field trip is on Monday. A reminder letter will be coming home on Friday about our Field Trip. We continued to work on the letter Ss. We wrote the letter on our boards, watched a letter Ss video, and added some Ss words to our class chart. We attended Mass with our Prayer Partner class this morning, the class did very well sitting quietly.  In Math, we did our count to 100 song. Then today we had a snowman. We put our snowman in our dry erase sleeve and the children had to roll the dice. They wrote the first number on one dice in the top circle, the second number on dice 2 in the middle circle and the answer went in the bottom circle. We then used manipulatives to do this and dots. In Science, we continued to talk about the seasons and different types of weather during each season. We made a list and talked about the kids of weather that you can have during the seasons and then we completed a beginning sounds worksheet. On Friday, the following children can be out of uniform for Race for Education:  Jensen, Rex, Audriana, and Cameron. We are working on the letter Ss this week. We practiced the letter sound, writing the letter and added some Ss words to our class chart. Then we read the story Verdi The Snake and created a snake craft using a dabber to add spots on the snake. In Math we counted along with our song to 100. Then we practiced add two groups of fish to get the sum. In Science, we continued to work on the seasons. We identified how trees change each season. Then we drew on trees buds or leaves to show how the tree changes in each season.  In Religion, we recognized how a Shepard is an image of God's care. We will discuss whys God shows his care toward us.

Thursday 5/6 - Field Day is on May 26th. Our Field Trip to the zoo is on Monday. Please look for the reminder letter going home tomorrow! Pray for good weather; as for now, it looks great! We continued to work on the letter Ss. We reviewed the letter Ss sound, watched a letter Ss video, and added some Ss words to our class chart. Then we will read the story Secret Seahorse and make a beautiful seahorse for the main character.  In Math, we did a swimming subtraction worksheet. We did this worksheet together as a large group. In Religion, we finished up our Seeds booklet and this will be coming home today. This is the last seeds booklet of the year.

Friday 5/5 - Please remember that our zoo trip is on Monday. Please read over the reminders paper in your child's folder. Also, Mother's Day gifts are coming home today. Please be gentle with the bag as it is glass. We finished up our letter Ss. We reviewed the sound, became experts at writing it, and added a few more letter Ss words to our board. We read the story Seal's Silly Sandwich. We then did a sequencing activity on how to make a PB & J sandwich. We cut out the pictures and then glued them in sequential order. We then made a sandwich. In Math we counted to 100 with our movement song. Then we practiced recognizing a set of object. We did a few subtraction problems and learned that they go with addition problems too. We also made a straw necklace to enhance our fine motor skills. Then we practiced our songs for the end of year celebration.

We added some R words to our class chart after watching our letter Rr video and reading My Letter Rr Sound Box book.  We made our itsy bitsy letter Rr book by coloring the pictures, cutting them out, and tracking the print as we read as a large group. In Math, we have covered all of the material for the school year. We will be doing weekly reviews on skills that will be covered in Kindergarten to better prepare them. In Social Studies we identified what the word respect means and how we show respect to others. In Religion, we learned our new Seeds song and we did our Seeds prayer. We read the seeds story A Surprise for David and we also did the coloring page that goes along with it.

Then we practiced tracing our numbers and counting out raccoons to show a how many.   In Science, we will be working on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We watched a Sesame Street visits the Recycling Plant and we talked about things we can do that will help out the Earth. We then colored an Earth Day hat to remind us to reduce, reuse and recycle. In Religion we heard the Gospel story how Jesus' friends recognized the risen Lord.

We read the story Planting A Rainbow, then we made a rainbow craft for letter R. In Math we practiced counting to 100, then we practiced recognizing how many in the set. We then did a worksheet where we counted how many in the tens frame, had to find the number cut it out and glue it to the correct set. In Science we continued to learn about recycling. We watched a short video about recycling then we tracked print and read a book, and then sorted items whether they are recyclable, reusable, or can be reduced. In Religion, we did our Seeds song and seeds prayer. We also did pages 2 and 3 in the seeds booklet which is about a Picnic at Prospect Park. 

Thursday 4/28 - Please remember that tomorrow is Race for Education. We will be going outside at 8:30. It will be chilly so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather! Our time starts at 8:30 if you would like to come and watch your child. Please take a look at the What's Ahead Wednesday for some important information regarding the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all of my parents who are coming on the field trip to the Zoo! I am so excited to spend this special day with all of you! We continued to work on the letter Rr. We reviewed the sound, watched a letter Rr video, and added Rr words to our class chart. Then we listened to the story Roaring Rockets. Then we created a rocket craft.  The children had to glue on a triangle and then count the letters in the last name and get the correct number of squares. They glued the squares down and then wrote their letters on each square. In Math, we did a number ordering rocket! The children had to put the numbers 1-10 in order to create a rocket. They had to cut the numbers out and then glue them down.  In Science we continued to learn about recycling. We watched a short video about recycling then we tracked print and read a book, and then sorted items whether they are recyclable, reusable, or can be reduced. In Religion, we did page 4 in the Seeds booklet. We talked about the importance of prayer and eating together as a family. We then did a maze on the back of the Religion book and also reviewed the Gospel reading that they will hear at Church on Sunday. We also practiced our end of the year songs! 

Friday 4/29 - We had our Race For Education today!   Please take a look at the What's Ahead Wednesday for some important information regarding the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all of my parents who are coming on the field trip to the Zoo! I am so excited to spend this special day with all of you!    We continued to work on the letter Rr. We reviewed the sound, watched a letter Rr video, and added Rr words to our class chart.  Then we practiced writing letter R and coloring pictures that started with the R sound. In Math we practiced counting then we played roll, add and cover with a partner. In Science we wrote about a way we can help keep the Earth clean. In Religion we talked about who we share mass with. Then we practiced our end of the year songs.                                                       





Monday 4/11 - I hope everyone had a great weekend. Please remember that tomorrow is our Passion Lunch for those who signed up. Also, Wednesday is a half day! We read The Story of Easter. We created the three crosses on Mt. Saini in Jesus' name as a sign that Jesus died for us. Then we played Easter Bingo today and had prizes! In Math, we played a dice game where the children used dice, had to write the number, and then add to get an answer. 

Tuesday 4/12 - Please remember that the children do not need a snack tomorrow and it is a half day so the children do not need a lunch either. We did an Easter flower pot craft. The children had to make the flower pot and then add the stems and the tulip flowers. Then we wrote the word JESUS on the five flowers. These are coming home today for you to hang up for Easter. We did some Painting with Peeps and we also read the story called God Gave us Easter. We then watched a Brother Francis video called He Is Risen. We did our Seeds booklet by making the mini Easter book and we did page 2 and colored our very own Easter egg. We also finished our Jesus is Risen booklets and they will be coming home today! This afternoon we will be having our Passion lunch. Please ask your child what their favorite part of the meal was and see if they can tell you what some of the items they ate signified.





Monday 4/4 - I hope everyone had a great weekend! We have a busy week and a half coming up. Thanks to everyone who signed up to bring in items for our Passion Lunch and for our classroom. We are going to be doing lots of Easter things and also lots of letter review, especially working on our letter sounds. We listened the story called My Magnificent Jelly Beans. We then learned a Jelly Bean prayer. In Math, we are also doing review this week. Today we sang our count to 100 song and then we used jelly beans and sorted and graphed by color. In Religion, we did our new song and also our Seeds prayer. We talked about ways that we can welcome people. We then read the story Abby and Gabby and discussed how they welcomed the twins in the story. 

Tuesday 4/5 - Thank you to everyone who signed up to bring in items for our Passion Lunch for our class. I could not do it without you. We are continuing to work on Easter items and we also are doing a letter review. We played a letter review game today and we also did our letter review song. We listened to the story There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick and we sequenced the events of the story. We also worked on making a craft of flowers in Jesus' name. In Math we counting to 100 with our song. Then we practiced adding. We used bunnies as counters and completed our addition problems. In Science, we did an experiment using peeps. We placed them in three different solutions to see what happens. In Religion, we did our new song and seeds prayer. We then cut out the items in our Seeds booklet. We will talk about all these items tomorrow but it was a lot to cut out. They worked so hard.

Wednesday 4/6 - Please remember that Friday is Dollar Day. Also we are still in need of parent volunteers for next week Passion meal on Tuesday. We are continuing to work on Easter crafts this week. Today we read The Easter Egg and painted paper eggs. We also are continuing to identify the characters in a story along with working on the word setting. The children have learned that the setting is where the story took place. In Math,  we did our Count to 100 song.  Today we continued to use our bunny counters and add two numbers together. In Science we made peeps playdough. We mixed the peeps, with Crisco and flour the kneed it until it was soft.  In Religion, we cut out the donkey and Jesus. We put them on a popsicle stick and listened to the Gospel reading. We then re-told the Gospel reading using Jesus and the donkey. I showed the children a palm and we talked about what will happen at church this weekend.

Thursday 4/7 - Please remember to read the What's Ahead Wednesday. Also, tomorrow is Dollar Day for those that have paid. Thanks to everyone who have sent in items over the past week for our Easter celebrations. We are continuing to work on Easter items and we also are doing a letter review. We played a letter review game today and we also did our letter review song. We read the story Pete the Cat's Big Easter Adventure. We finished up our Easter baskets today and they will be hanging in the hallway until Friday. They worked very hard on all of the steps for the basket. In Math, we reviewed ordinal number value, then we did an Easter worksheet where we worked on coloring 1st through 5th Easter items. We then did a STEM Science building experiment with the jellybeans and toothpicks. The children worked to create their own masterpiece. Their masterpiece had to go outwards and they had to make a nest for their chick peep. Religion today we headed to mass with our prayer partner class. 

Friday 4/8 - Please remember that next week we are in school Monday and Tuesday and have a half day on Wednesday. Please remember to bring in the items for next weeks Passion Meal if you have not already done so. Thanks so much for all of your help. In Math,  we did our Count to 100 song. Then we practiced measuring Easter items with our cubes. In Science, we used our STEM building brains to stack Easter eggs. We took the Easter eggs apart and  then had to see how high we could stack them on top of one another. Each table had to work together to create the highest tower. As we made the towers, we talked about what happens if they are not even or what happens if you put a small egg of top of a big egg, etc. They were able to draw conclusions about what would happen. We also took a look at our peeps from the other day and saw how they changed by each solution we put them in. In Religion, we cut on the folded line which when we opened it, it made a palm. We then added scissor cuts to it and waved it in the air and sang Hosanna.

We practiced the sounds that it makes,  watched a letter Uu video, and added some Uu words to our board. We read My Letter Uu Sound Box book and then made our own itsy bitsy mini book. In Math, we are working on shapes to prepare us for our next unit. While working on the shapes, we are focusing on how many sides the shape has and whether the shapes are round or have straight vs. curved lines. Today we did a tracing worksheet where we focused on the circle.  Each shape we traced was a different color: squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. Then we had to count and write the correct total on the lines. We used our dry erase marker and board to practice drawing those shapes. After drawing them, we talked about the lines and how many sides that they have. In Science we are recognizing that everything grows. We listened to a video and shared different things that grow. Then we completed a worksheet identifying which things grow. In Religion, we finished up our Stations of the Cross video. The children really enjoyed and understood the Brother Francis video. We then did our Seeds song and also did our Seeds prayer. I read the story called the Playtime Problem. We then looked in the Seeds booklet and the children had to sequence the story on page 2 by writing the numbers 1-4 in the boxes. They did a good job with this and also telling me what was inside each box. 

Tuesday 3/29 - We continued to work on the letter Uu. We practiced writing the letter Uu on our dry erase board. Then we watched a letter Uu video, added some Uu words to the board, and practiced the letter Uu sound. We listened to the story UP. We then created the UP house by cutting out a triangle and a square. We gave the house windows and doors. We then added the balloons using crayons for the string and dabbers for the balloon part. In Math, we continued to work on shapes. To begin, each child had to walk around the room and find a triangle. Then we used our dry erase board to draw some triangles. We talked about the lines on the shapes and how many sides and angles triangles have. We then did a shapes worksheet where the children had to do a color it, trace it, and draw triangles. We focused on the sides and lines when drawing the triangles around the faces. In Science we continued to discuss haw everything grows and identifying the difference between things that grow and things that do not grow. In Religion, we did our Seeds song and Seeds prayer. We also did pages 3 and 4 in the Seeds booklet. We will trace the numbers on the dotted lines and then we will cut out the pictures on the lines. The children will work together to play a teamwork game. They will have to turn them on the number side and put the numbers together and then they will turn them over to the other side and see if they can put the pictures in order. They will be taking these blocks home so you can play the game at home. 

Thursday 3/31 - We continued to work on the letter Uu. We added two more words to the board, watched a letter Uu video, and practiced writing the letter Uu. We also read the story Under The Sea. Then we talked about the characters in the story and introduced the concept of setting. We then made the setting with sea animals under the sea.  In Math, we did our count to 100 song. We did a cut and paste Math activity where the children had to cut out the ugly ducklings and then glue them in the correct order, biggest to smallest. We then continued to work on shapes. We practiced drawing our shapes today and had to find some different shapes in the classroom. In Science we learned how sound travels through water. We listened to sounds travel through the air then we did the same sound under water to see if we could hear the the sound. In Religion, we did our Seeds song and Seeds prayer. We did a page in our Religion workbook and finished up our Easter cards for our parents today! 

Friday 4/1 - Today we continued with the letter U. We worked on recognizing the sound for U and recorded words on our class chart.  Then we completed a worksheet where we had to find the picture with the U sound. We read the story How To Catch A Unicorn and discussed the characters and setting. Then we created a unicorn for the main character. In Math we counted to 100 with our song. Then we found a shape around the room and shared which shape we had. Then we told how many lines, corners, angles each shape had. Next we completed a graph to show how many of each shape we had. In the afternoon we enjoyed our reward for filling our pom pom jar and watched a movie and had popcorn. In Religion we discussed ways to practice working out our problems. We then wrote and drew a picture how we can be peacemakers. Have a great weekend!


Tuesday 3/22 - I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. We will be having Pajama Day for the letter Pp on Thursday. Please wear your favorite pajamas to school. If wearing a nightgown, please make sure to wear pants underneath of it. We will be having pretzels and popcorn for snack. We are working on the letter Pp this week. We practiced the Pp sound, added some Pp words to our class chart, practiced writing the letter Pp, and watched a letter Pp video. We also read My Letter Pp Sound box book and then we created our own itsy bitsy mini book. Then we read The Pig's Picnic and made a pig for the main  character. In Math, we are working on length/height. We practiced measuring items in our pencil box with our cubes. Then we  measured dinosaurs. In Science, we are working on the life cycle of a plant. Today we talked about the things that a plant needs in order to grow. We cut out the pictures and glued them into the box. We watched a short video that gave us a better understanding of what plants need. In Religion, we learned our new song called Hosanna. We also did our Seeds prayer. We built our own story in Religion class today. I read parts and the children had to fill in the blanks to finish the story.

Wednesday 3/23 - Please remember that tomorrow is Pajama Day. I will be providing snack for those children that like Popcorn and Pretzels. Please make sure to read the What's Ahead Wednesday! We continued to work on the letter Pp. We added some Pp words to our board, practiced writing the letter Pp, watched a Pp video, and did a beginning sounds letter Pp worksheet. We worked together to find each letter Pp word and colored it in. In Math we counted to 100 with our song, then we continued to work on height and length. We practiced measuring things from our pencil boxes then used our cubes to measuring different objects on our worksheet. In Science, we are working on the life cycle of a plant. Today we talked about the things that a plant needs in order to grow. We cut out the pictures and glued them into the box. Thursday 2/24 - We enjoyed our yummy snack today and also had fun wearing our pajamas for the letter Pp. We continued to review the letter Pp sound. We watched a letter Pp video, added some Pp words to the board, and also practiced writing the letter Pp. Then we read the story How I Became A Pirate and created a pirate for the one of the characters. We have been working on identifying characters in a story. In Math, we are working on heavy/light. We learned the difference between the two words today. We used pictures and each child had to categorize the pictures. We then used items inside of our pencil box. We tried to determine which items were heavy and which items were light.  In Science, we continued to review information about plants. Today we learned about the life cycle of the plant. We cut out pictures and then glued them in the correct order based on how a plant grows. Ask your child about the pictures they glued down and how a seed grows. In Religion, we did pages 2 and 3 in the Seeds booklet. On Page 3, the children will understand that Jesus always welcomes us home. We will do the maze to get from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain. We will used our pencil to complete the maze and then we will discuss how Jesus felt when he finally reached the children.

Friday 3/25 - Happy Friday. I hope everyone has a great weekend. We finished up the letter Pp. We added some P words to our class chart after watching the letter Pp video. We also worked hard to identify which pictures started with the P sound on our worksheet. We also practiced tracing our letter P worksheet. In Math, we continued to use our scale to weigh things. Today, the children were able to pick out one item and then we took turns weighing the item to see which one was the heaviest. We also did a heavy/light worksheet. In Science, we read the story How a Seed Grows. We then did the life cycle of the plant and what do plants need mini book. These will be coming home today. Ask your child about the life cycle of the plant. In Religion, we sang our Hosanna song and did our Seeds prayer. We also watched a formed video from Brother Francis on the Stations of the cross. We talked about each station as they went through them. 








Monday 3/14 - Book Fair family night is tonight. If you get a chance, please stop by the Book Fair! We will be having Jungle day on Wednesday. The children are encouraged to wear their favorite jungle attire to school. This includes t-shirts with jungle animals, jungle themed socks, hair bows, etc. They must wear their SUS sweatpants. Thursday is Dollar Day! Please remember that we do not have school on Friday or Monday. We are working on the letter Jj this week. We learned the letter sound, how to write the letter Jj, and we added some Jj words to our board. We read My Letter Jj sound Box book and then we also made our own itsy bitsy mini Jj book. We made a jaguar using pre-cut pieces and then we added brown spots to the jaguar. In Math, we counted to 100. Then we practice measuring things around the room with our cubes. We then measured ice cream cones with our cubes. In Science we tasted Jam for letter J. In Religion, we did our Jesus Loves me song and we did our new seeds prayer. We will read the story Max Grows Pockets and we will re-tell the story and also did an accompanying coloring page. 

Tuesday 3/15 - Please remember that tomorrow is Jungle day. The children are encouraged to wear jungle animal shirts, hair bows, socks, etc. They must wear their SUS sweatpants. They can also bring in a small jungle stuffed animal that they can sleep with during nap time. Thursday is Dollar Day. Friday we have off school as well as Monday. In ELA, we continued to work on the letter Jj. We practiced the sound, added some Jj words to the board, and practiced writing them. We made our letter Jj hat by tracing the words, coloring the pictures, and cutting it out. We listened to the story Jay Jay The Jet I Miss You A Whole Lot. We talked about the characters in the story and then made a jet spelling out our last name. In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. We reviewed how to sort and quickly sorted by color. Then we ordered flowers by size largest to smallest. In Science we used our STEM brains and learned how to draw a jet then tried for ourselves. In Religion we recognize that we grow as children of God.

Wednesday 3/16 - It was great to see all of the children's jungle animals. Please remember that tomorrow is a Dollar Day. The children can also wear Saint Patrick's Day attire. We do not have school on Friday or Monday. We practiced our letter Jj sound, watched a letter Jj video, and added Jj words to our class chart.  In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. We used our cubes to measure objects from our pencil case, then we completed a worksheet measuring objects using our cubes. Then in Science we learned about jungle animals and then played charades. In Religion, we did our Seeds song and seeds prayer. We also did pages 2 and 3 in the seeds booklet. We cut out the How do Birds and Frogs go paper and we worked together as a large group to put them in order based on how they grow. You can also practice this at home as these are coming home today!

Thursday 3/17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! Please remember that we do not have school tomorrow or Monday. The children had a great Dollar Day. We continued to work on the letter Jj. We did our morning work letter Jj worksheet. We watched a letter Jj video, added some Jj words to our list our class chart, and practiced writing the letter Jj.  Then we enjoyed the story The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Clover and sequenced the main events of the story. For snack, the leprechaun left clover cookies for us to enjoy! We read a Saint Patrick's Day Story and then we cut out the words, I am a Lucky Leprechaun and the children had to glue the words down in the correct order. Then we had to color the leprechaun. We used Lucky Charms to do some Math graphing. The children were given a cup of lucky charms and they had to graph them based on their shapes. We also did a count and color Saint Patrick's Day graphing.  In Religion we recognized the gift of St. Patrick's Day.





Monday 3/7 - Please remember that on Wednesday we will be going to Book Fair. Please let me know who will be attending Book Fair with your child by tomorrow. On Friday, the children are encouraged to wear Disney attire. They must wear their SUS Sweatpants but can add shirts, sweatshirt, bows, socks, etc onto their uniform. In ELA we are working on the letter Dd this week. We watched a letter Dd video, learned how to write the letter Dd, and also added some Dd words to our class chart. We did our Itsy Bitsy Letter Dd book after reading My Letter Dd sound box book. In Math we counted along with our song to 100. Then we worked on identifying things of different size. We worked on smallest, small, medium, and large. We first practiced with objects around the room then we completed our worksheet showing which cake was the smallest, to the largest. In Science we listened to the story The Butter Battle Book. Then we made butter taking turns around the room shaking the container. We tried our butter on bread today. We did not get to complete this activity Friday because we had a half day. Then in Religion we  we did our new seeds song and seeds prayer. We listened to the story Jacob belongs to the church and then did the accompanying coloring page.


Tuesday 3/8 - Please read the information letter that was sent to your email about Book Fair. If you have not let me know who will be coming with your child to book fair, please do so by today. On Friday, we will have Disney day for the letter Dd. We will also be making our dirt using our food supplies. Thank you to everyone who signed up to bring in items. In ELA we read the story Detective Dog and the Disappearing Doughnuts. We then made our very own donuts using a paper plate. We colored the outside ridges either yellow or brown for chocolate/ vanilla cake and then we added real coloring icing and sprinkles to our donut. These will be hanging in our classroom! We continued to learn about the letter Dd. We practiced the sound, practiced writing the letter, and also added some Dd words to the board after watching a letter Dd video. We did a beginning sounds letter Dd worksheet. For Math, we did our count to 100 song. We then did a donut warm up. The children used their dice and had to roll them and whatever number they rolled, they had to dab that donut. They did a great job with this. We then continued to talk about long/tall vs short. Then we counted donuts and added them together to find the sum. In Science we found how the volume of an object has a collation to how the water is displaced. In Religion we did a mosaic cross page where the children used tissue paper to make the cross. For morning work, the children colored the background of the cross. 

Wednesday 3/9 - On Friday, we will be making our dirt snack. We will also be having Disney Day for the letter Dd. The children can wear Disney attire but must wear their SUS sweatpants. n ELA, we continued to work on the letter Dd. We reviewed the sound, watched a letter Dd video, and added some Dd words to the board. We also practiced writing the letter Dd on our dry erase board as well as other letters. We practiced writing letter D and identifying to highlight letter D. We read the story Sammy and the Dinosaurs. We then cut out over very own dinosaur and we decorated it. In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. For our warm up, we did some Dinosaur addition. The children had to cut out the numbers down the bottom and then add the dinosaurs together and glue on the correct answer. For Religion, we did our need Jesus Loves Me song and also did our Seeds prayer. We will talk about when and how you can prayer. We will cut out our book called My Prayer times and Places. We will then draw ourselves in the pictures. 

Thursday 3/10 - Please remember that tomorrow the children do not need a snack. We will be making our dirt. We also will be having Disney Day. The children can wear Disney related attire to school. They must wear their SUS sweatpants.  We continued to work on the letter Dd. We practiced writing the letter Dd's, added some Dd words to our class chart after watching our letter Dd video. Then we practiced writing our letter D and writing words that begin with the letter D. We enjoyed the story 101 Dalmatians we are working on identifying the charactersWe then created a Dalmatian.  In Math we continued to work on the concept of tall/ long vs. short. The children measured different items inside their pencil boxes using their cubes and they had to determine the longest item and the shortest item. We also looked at some objects and we had to circle the shortest object in the row. They did great with this.   For Science, we did a dancing gummy worm science experiment for the letter D. Ask your child if they gummy worms danced or not? For Religion, we finished up on My Prayer Times and Places. We continued to discuss different ways and times that we can pray. 

Friday 3/11 - We had a great Disney Day! We loved the children's attire! In ELA, we watched a letter Dd video, added a few more Dd words to our class chart, and practiced writing the letter Dd. We matched the beginning D sound picture words and ending D sound picture words to a dogs head or tail.  We read the story Dandelion. Then we painted a dandelion and practiced writing. In Math we counted to 100 with our song. Then we practiced telling which number is larger for the alligator to eat. Next we played a roll and color addition game. In Science, we talked about the layers of the Dirt using pudding, Oreos, green Twizzler's, and cool whip. We talked about each layer and then put our dessert together. Ask your child what their favorite layer was.  We also used real dirt and began planting our flowers for a project that will be coming home for Easter. We did a page in our Religion book today on Lent.


Monday 2/28 - I hope everyone had a great weekend. Please remember that this week is read across America week. We will be celebrating each day with a different theme. Tomorrow is Terrific Hat Tuesday. The children can wear their best hat! On Wednesday, we will be attending a prayer service for Ash Wednesday in the GYM. In ELA, we began to work on rhyming words. We learned that a rhyming word sounds alike, except for the first sound. We practiced by looking at some pictures and determined if they rhymed or did not rhyme. We looked at pictures and found a picture to rhyme. We read the story Fox In Socks. We made a fox and added silly socks. In Math, we did our count to 100 song. Then we read Ten Apples Up On Top and then we matched number apples to apples with the correct number of dots. We also practiced an apple pattern paper. In Science we made gooey gooey blue goo. Each friend brought a baggie home to use for sensory. Then in Religion we learned our new Peace like a River song. We also did our new Seeds prayer. We did pages 2 and 3 in the Seeds booklet as we read the story Lexi Makes Good Choices. We had to cut out the pictures and then glue them down as we were reading the story. We then re-told the story

Tuesday 3/1 - Tomorrow is Wacky Hair Wednesday! Please add on Wacky accessories to your hair and fix your hair in a wacky manner! We read What Pet Should I Get? We practiced writing different pets then we discussed which pet we would like. We also practiced rhyming words. Then in Math we counted to 100 with our song. We then graphed goldfish and made a pattern with our fish. In Science In Science, we also used our Swedish fish today. We looked at the Swedish fish and described them. We then looked at vegetable oil, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and soda. We dropped two fish in each of the solutions and we made guesses about what was going to happen. We left them in there all afternoon and looked at them before we went home. We will also look at them tomorrow morning and determine what happened to the fish. In Religion, we will do our Peace like a River song and actions and the Seeds prayer. We will also look at the cover page of the seeds booklet. We will talk about what will be happening tomorrow when we go to the prayer service and get ashes on our foreheads. We will determine what is happening in each picture on the seeds cover. 

Wednesday 3/2 -  Happy Wednesday! I am so sorry that I said today is wacky hair day. It is silly sock day. Tomorrow is Wacky Hair day. I was looking at last years paper! Thanks so much for your understanding.  We read the story Wacky Wednesday and then we had to draw our wacky socks! Look at their Wacky drawings when they come home. Today we went to an Ash Wednesday prayer service in the GYM. The children received ashes on their forehead and did an amazing job! We also did an Ash Wednesday activity where they had to draw their facial body parts and then they had to add the ashes to their forehead. We sang our Peace like a River song and did our Seeds prayer. They are coming home today! In Math we practiced adding and subtracting. Then in Science, we looked at our Swedish fish from yesterday and drew conclusions. 

Thursday 3/3 - Happy Crazy Hair Wednesday! We did our Letter song that we are beginning to learn. In ELA we read the story of Green Eggs and Ham. Then we made predictions of whether we would like them or not. Then we tried green eggs and ham. Which were mini pretzel squares with white chocolate square and green m& m.  They actually liked green eggs and ham! In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. We will also do a Cat in the Hat puzzle from 1-10. The children will have to put the puzzle pieces in order and glue them down to make the Cat in the Hat.  In Science We used our STEM minds to stack a pattern of red cups and white paper. We also made a pattern of strawberries and marshmallows. Then we got to eat them!  For Religion, we did our Peace like a River song and we also did our Seeds prayer. We made the Ukrainian flag today and prayed for the people over in Ukraine. 

Friday 3/4 - Dress as your favorite book character day! We are very excited today. We started our day with reading The Lorax then making truffle trees. Then later we read the story Put Me In The Zoo and made a spotted animal on a sugar cookie. Yum! In Math we worked on adding then coloring our truffle tree tops. 



Tuesday 2/22 -  Happy Tuesday. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the extra day off! A paper is coming home about next weeks Read Across America Week. A sign up genius will also be coming out as well. Thank you so much for all of your help! We are working on the letter Bb this week. We practiced the Bb sound, practiced writing the letter Bb, and added some Bb words to our list on the board. We read my Letter Bb Sound  Box book and then we made our own mini letter Bb book. We reviewed the pages in the book after coloring and cutting them out. Then we read the story It's Not Easy Being A Bunny, and created a letter B bunny to help us recall the events in the story. In math, we did our Count to 100 song. We then reviewed height measurement. When we finished we played a roll and cover game. In SS/Science we learned about President Obama and made a paper bag puppet. We then drew a picture of what we would do if we were President. In Religion we recognize that every person is special and then listened to the story Mr. Mooney's fruit. Then we determined what our favorite classroom fruit is before we began to read the story. 

Wednesday 2/23 - Today is Chick-fil-a day for those that ordered. We practiced writing the letter Bb, made the letter Bb sound, watched a letter Bb video, and added some Bb words to our class chart.  We reviewed the pictures with the B sound and glued them onto our worksheet. Then we read the story The Very Greedy Bee and created a bumblebee to help retell the details of the story. In Math, we did our count to 100 song. We then sorted buttons and completed our worksheet sorting different size buttons also. We finished up putting our numbers in order on bee hives. In Social Studies we learned about Ruby Bridges and how she was brave. We then tried to write how we would be brave. In Religion we recognize that our actions are like trees of fruit. We listened to Sunday's Gospel story and talked about how a tree grows good fruit a person grows when they make kind choices and do good deeds.

Thursday 2/24 - In ELA, we continued to work on the letter Bb. We watched a letter Bb video, added some Bb words to our class chart, and practiced writing the letter Bb.  We then listened to the story Blueberries for Sal and practiced retelling the events in the story. We painted blueberries in a pail using corks. Then in Math we counted to 100 with our song. Next we used objects around the room to show small medium and large. Then we completed a cut and paste objects worksheet demonstrating we know which objects are small, medium or large. In Science we learned where blueberries come from and we will taste one! Yum. Then in Religion we learned a prayer to the Holy Spirit and practiced reverence.

Friday 2/25 - In ELA, we finished up the letter Bb. We added some more Bb words to our class chart, practiced writing the letter Bb, and did our letter Bb worksheet. Then we read the story Brown Bear Brown Bear and sequenced the events to help us retell the key details. In Math we did our Count to 100 song. We then sequenced brown bears in order from 1-10. We cut them out and glued them down. We also did a Brown Beat graphing worksheet and figured out what our favorite animal was in the story. In Religion, we finished our Seeds then we watched a Brother Francis video that went along with our theme this week. 



Monday 2/14 - Happy Valentines Day! I hope everyone has a great day. The children will be bringing home a Valentine's Day goody bag with all of their cards and goodies inside of it. We had a great time celebrating our Valentine's Day together.

We did lots of Valentine's Day activities. In Math, we used conversation hearts and did some graphing. We did a heart uppercase and lowercase letter matching. We also practiced writing our lowercase letters in hearts. We made I love you to pieces artwork!

Tuesday 2/15 - I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!  I know we certainly did in Pre-K. I hope the children enjoyed reading their cards when they got home yesterday. On Friday, we will be having a QU wedding. An e-mail and written paper will be coming home today! It is one of my favorite days of the year. In Math, we did our count to 100 song. We also did some subtraction problems using cubes. We then completed a Valentine's Day subtraction worksheet. In Religion, we read the story Willow's Kind Decision. We then did a coloring page about the story and completed page 2 which was about the balloons in the story. We practiced our new seeds song Mighty God and also learned the actions as well. 

Wednesday 2/16 - Thank you to everyone who signed up for items for our Q and U wedding. We are looking for a ring bearer pillow.  I am so excited for this Q and U wedding as it is one of my favorite events in Pre-K. Please read the What's Ahead Wednesday for important information about events that are coming up. We had P.E. with Mrs. Brlyske today. In ELA, we continued to work on the letter Qq. We added some Q words to the board, listened to a letter Q story, and practiced writing the letter Qq on our boards. We listened to the story Kindness Quilt and practiced retell events in the story. We made a patch quilt and put them all together. In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. Then we reviewed decomposing numbers and practiced using cubes to decompose. Then each child completed a subtraction worksheet. In SS/Science we talked about inventor Garret Morgan. We recognized that he invented the traffic light and we made a traffic light using our fine motor to rip pieces of paper and glue the on. In Religion we recognize that Jesus wants us to be kind and we finished up page 2and 3 in our Seeds book.

Thursday 2/17 - Tomorrow is our Q and U wedding. Please have your child wear fancy clothes to school. Thank you to everyone who signed up to bring in items for our wedding. We have everything we need! Please remember that we do not have school on Monday. Please be sure to read What's Ahead Wednesday for information about the school and parish events.  We had a fire drill today. The children did an amazing job! We practiced writing letter Qq. We watched a letter Qq video, added Qq words to our class chart. We then read the story Quiet Wyatt and practiced retelling details from the story. We then used q-tips and paint to rainbow paint the letter Q. They did a very good job with this! In Math, we continued to work on decomposing numbers. We did our count to 100 song, and did a Math warm up worksheet page where the children had to cross off and then subtract. We then worked together in groups to do some subtraction problems. In SS/Science we identified Louis Armstrong and the beautiful music he created and forged a way in black history. We then painted saxophones.  In Religion, we sang our Mighty God song and did the Seeds prayer. We also listened to the Gospel reading and looked at the front cover to re-tell the reading. We then completed pages 3 and 4 by cutting out the pages, making them into a book, and then read it together as a class 

Friday 2/18 -  Hooray it is Friday! Reminder we are off Monday for Presidents Day. Today in ELA we sang along with our Q song then recorded words that began with the Q sound on our class chart. We read the story The Quiet Quail. We had our Q and U wedding, remember to check the pictures page for pictures, I will be posting them. In Math we used manipulatives to decompose numbers to 5. Then we practiced subtracting to 5 independently with our worksheet. In SS/Science we learned about Martin Luther King and painted the colors of love. In Religion we finished up our Seeds by learning movements to the Lord's Prayer. 



Monday 2/7 - Please make sure to read over last weeks What's Ahead Wednesday! I sent home a project this past weekend where I asked the children to collect 100 of an item from their house that will fit inside of a zip lock bag. These items are due back to school on January 9th. An e-mail will be coming out today about our Valentine's Day celebration on Monday! We are working on the letter Gg this week. We practiced writing the letter Gg, making the Gg sound, and watching a letter Gg video. After the video, we added some Gg words to the board. We read My Letter Gg sound box book and then we created our own mini letter Gg book. We colored the pictures, reviewed them, and cut them out to create our book. In Math, we are beginning to work on decomposing/ taking away numbers. Today we counted to 100, did a simple addition Math warm up, and then I introduced decomposing. We used real life examples and pictures to decompose numbers today. In Social Studies, we will be working on learning about Black History Month. Today we learned about Rosa Parks. We created a bus for Rosa and learned about her life. In Religion,  we will learn a new Seeds song and Seeds prayer. We will read the story the Heart Family Shows Love and we will talk about ways that we can show love. We will then complete a coloring page to accompany the story. 

Tuesday 2/8 - Please remember to send in the 100 days of school items to school tomorrow. We will be sharing these items and counting them out in group of 10 for Math class. We have lots of fun things planned.

In ELA, we are continuing to work on the letter Gg. We practiced the two sounds that it makes, watched a letter Gg video, and added some Gg words to our list on the board. We did our search and find letter Gg worksheet where we used our bingo dabber to find all of the Gg's. We read the story Good Night Gorilla! and sequenced the stories main events. In Math, we did our count to 100 song. We then continued to talk about decomposing/ taking away numbers. We used links and counted out a number then practiced taking some away. In SS, we continued to discuss inventors. Today we discussed Maya Angelou. We water color painted a beautiful picture of Maya Angelou.  In Religion, we did our new seeds song and seeds prayer. We also reviewed the story from yesterday. We talked about ways that we belong to our family and then we created our Love heart strips. We talked about who the Heart Family gave the Valentines too. 

Wednesday 2/9 - Happy 100 days of school! Please remember to send in Valentine's Day cards on Monday. We will be having our Valentine's day celebration so the children will not need a snack. We continued to work on the letter Gg. We watched a letter Gg video, added some Gg words to our board, and practiced writing the letter Gg. We read the story The Gingerbread Boy and then had to cut the pieces out and sequence them in the correct order. The children are really working hard on sequencing a story in order and then re-telling the story. We read the story 100 Days and then we shared our 100 day project. Each child shared the 100 of what they brought in to school. Then we had to put 10 of each item in 10 times to make 100. The worksheet is going home today so you can see what we did. We also made our 100 days of school to wear home from school today. Each child has an 100 days Smarter award in their folder. The progress they have made this year is amazing and I am so proud of them. In SS, we talked about Nelson Mandela and did a color by number page. We learned that Nelson Mandela  did so much for civil rights and then we talked about what our favorite subject in school is. In Religion, we did our new seeds song and seeds prayer. We also did page 3 in the seeds booklet and then listened to the Gospel reading for the week.

Thursday 2/10 - Please remember to send in Valentine's Day cards on Monday. We will be celebrating in the classroom. In ELA, we added letter Gg words to our class chart after watching a Gg video. We read the story Goldilocks And The Three Bears. We identified the Gg words in the story and then we sequenced the main events in the story. In Math, we did our count to 100 song and also completed a simple subtraction worksheet. We completed this together as a large group. We then used links and to put together and then take apart and subtract. The children did a great job with this! In SS, we discussed  who Serena Williams is and how she became a champion. We made tennis racquets and played table tennis using pompoms.  We also learned how other forces act against gravity. We did a science experiment and had paper clips standing up. The class had a great time doing this!  In Religion, we sang our new seeds song and did our Seeds prayer. We finished the Seeds booklet and retold the Gospel.

Friday 2/11 - I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys their Valentine's Day weekend. Please remember to send in Valentine's Day cards on Monday. We also completed a letter Gg beginning sounds worksheet. The children had to color all of the pictures that begin with the letter Gg sound. We did this together as a large group. They did a great job with this. We also added a few more letter Gg words to our class chart and practiced writing the letter Gg after watching a video. In Math, we continue to work on simple subtraction and decomposing. We used links to do some subtraction problems. The we did a  subtraction worksheet and used Fruit Loops to help us subtract. We did the first one together and the other ones they did independently. We completed a Valentine's Day card for our parents today. The children worked super hard and they will give it to you on Monday!





 

We listened to a short story of Garrett Morgan and then we talked about what each color means not only on a traffic light but also when crossing the street. We then created our own traffic lights using red, yellow, and green construction paper.

Monday 1/31 - We started CSW with a bang. Today was Wacky Tacky add on day. In ELA we started letter O and identified the sound and recognized words that begin with the O sound. We listened to stories about the Olympics and made an Olympic medal craft. In Math we used our skills to count and graph winter sports, then determine which winter sport was represented the most. In Science/SS. we have been working on positional words. We practiced moving an object to the different positions and then we had to use our big listening ears to follow directions to where we glue the picture in the correct position. In Religion we acted like we were fishermen just like Jesus did.

Tuesday 2/1 - Rep Your Team Day! Happy Birthday to Charleigh. We had Art first thing this morning. In ELA we continued to work on identifying the sound and recognizing the letter O. Continue to practice the letter sounds. Then we listened to the story The Barn Owl and practiced retelling key details. We made an Owl craft to remind us of the details from the story.  In Math we worked on sequencing our numbers, and recognizing an oval. Then in Science/S.S. we created a structure then used a flashlight to make a shadow. We traced the shadow and discussed the tradition of Ground Hog Day. In Religion we learned that Simon Peter and his friends follow Jesus. 

Wednesday 2/2 - Happy Virtual visitation! We will welcome our parents as we work on our letter O sound and record words that begin with the O sound. Then we will read and discuss Groundhog's Day. We will make a ground hog puppet to help us recall the key details. Then in Math we counted cubes to add groups together. We practiced recognizing our numbers in a tens frame. In Science/S.S. we made predictions is Punxsutawney Phil would see their shadow. We then watched to see if our prediction was correct. In Religion we recognize that the stories of some of Jesus' followers. We listened to the gospel story and learned our word of the week "mission." 

Thursday 2/3 - Dress The Decades Day. We started our day with Morning Meeting where we recorded the date and weather. Then we had Music class. Everyone enjoyed singing songs. In ELA we continued to work on the letter O sound and identifying words that begin with the O sound. We read the story Olive The Octopus's Day of Juggling and made an octopus to help us recall the key details. Ask your child if they remember any details from the story.  In Math we reviewed shapes then did a graph showing which shape was represented the most. In Science/S.S. we learned where oranges come from and how they are picked. In Religion we learned that there were many followers of Jesus, and that we are too.

Friday 2/4 - Happy St. Ursula Spirit Day! Today we had our morning meeting, and completed our prayer, pledge, and recorded the date, and weather. Then we worked on our letter O sound and identified words that began with the O sound. The rest of the morning we played games with Mrs. Vandervander's class. We played bowling, land the ball in the hula hoop, hula hoop hop, egg on the spoon relay, and paper plate skate. We also learned tried an orange, everyone loved them!


Monday 1/24 - Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the cold weather! Please remember that Love Grams are due by this week. We also have Open House this weekend if you know anyone who is interested in coming to Saint Ursula. Today we started working on the letter Cc this week. We learned the letter Cc sounds, how to write the letter Cc and we recorded some Cc words on our class chart after watching a letter Cc video. We made our Itsy Bitsy Letter Cc book. Please practice reading the letter Cc book each night this week.  In Math, we will continue to learn simple addition. We counted to 100 and then did a Math warm up worksheet. We then used counting cubes and to add numbers together. They have really improved and I am so proud of their hard work. In Religion, we sang our Seeds song and did our Seeds prayer. We read the story Skippy the Skunk, we talked about the story and colored a page to go along with the story. 

Tuesday 1/25 - On Friday, the children do not need a snack. We will be having cookie decorating for the letter Cc. We will use icing and sprinkles to decorate our cookies and then we will eat them! In ELA, we continued to work on the letter Cc. We added some more Cc words to the board after watching our letter Cc video. We also read the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. After reading the story, we cut out the pieces in the story and sequenced the story based on the days of the week. In Math, we did our count to 100 and a quick Math warm up. The children had to use their plate and complete simple addition sentences using cubes. We then did a caterpillar number worksheet. In Science, we worked on positional words. In Religion, we prayed for the firefighters who lost their lives yesterday. We also worked in our Seeds and recognize that some people don't listen to Jesus.

Wednesday 1/26 - Please remember that Friday is a half day. If your child is going to after care, they will need a lunch. We continued to work on the letter Cc. We reviewed the sounds, watched a video, added some Cc words to our class chart. We colored our letter Cc pictures, then we read a letter C poem.  We also did our letter Cc phonics worksheet and trace letter C. We then reviewed the letter Cc pictures together as a class. In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. We then did some simple addition problems using their pencil box items. They are really doing a good job with simple addition. We also did a carrot worksheet as a review for adding. In Science/ SS, we reviewed positional words in our classroom. We played a little game using our supplies from our pencil boxes. I gave the children positional words and they had to move their things to those positional words. We then complete a cut and paste worksheet. The children had to follow my direction of gluing the items onto the paper based on the positional words. In Religion, we did our Seeds song and Seeds prayer. We worked on Thank you cards to our parents and we also finished up our Holy Trinity snowman papers which will be hanging up for Open House this weekend. 

Reminder: Next week is Catholic Schools Week. On Monday, it is parent appreciation day. On Tuesday, it is student appreciation day. On Wednesday, it is Service Day and Virtual Visitation. Thursday 1/27 - Please remember that tomorrow is a half day. If your child is going to after care, they will need a lunch. The children DO NOT need a snack as we will be decorating our cookies and eating them. Next week is Catholic Schools Week. We continued to work on the letter Cc. We reviewed the letter sound, watched a letter Cc video, and added some Cc words to our class chart. We also did a cut and paste worksheet where the children had to cut the letter Cc pictures out and then glue them onto the cat. In Math, we did our Count to 100 song. In Science/Ss, we continued to learn about positional words. We also focused on the words first, second and third today. We then complete a cut and paste worksheet. The children had to cut out the pictures and listen for the direction of where to put the items.  In Religion, we cut out the pieces in our Seeds booklet then played a game where the children had to draw one card at a time with their neighbor and had to make the sound of the picture. The other person had to guess what they were. The children had lots of fun playing this game. 

Friday 1/28 - Today is a half day! Hurray it is Friday! In ELA we continued with he letter C and we recorded words on our class chart. We listened to the story The Cow Loves Cookies. Then we recalled the key details. We decorated sugar cookies for snack today. We joined in to virtual mass. We made a letter C book for book bag. We read over and over these books practicing tracking print and recognizing letters.


Tuesday 1/18 - Today we recognize what Martin Luther King Jr. has contributed to our society. We listened to a story about his life and painted a hand of many colors to show unity. In Language Arts we learned the letter Z and and the sound Z makes. We identified words that begin with the Z sound. In Math we continue to word on addition. We counted figures and wrote the addition sentence to go along then found the sum. Please continue to work on this concept of combining groups. In Religion we recognize and share the good news of Jesus.

Wednesday 1/19 - Today we continued with learning letter Z and the sound Z makes. We tried identifing words that have the Z sound. We continued to work on addition, combining groups to find the total. In Science we recognize that some animals adapt to winter weather to survive. In Religion we recognize that Jesus' good news that we are all members of God's loving family.

Friday 1/21 - In Reading we created a zoo with animals after reading the story Put Me In A Zoo. We worked on the Z sound. In Math we practiced counting and then played a roll and cover game where added one more to our roll of dice. In Science we learned about ways animals adapt to winter weather changes. In Religion we shared good news and prayed a thank you prayer.

Monday 1/10 - Today we learned the letter A and that the letter A makes two sounds. We identified words that begin with the letter A and added them to our class chart. In Math we started working on addition equations and solving for the sum. Please continue to work on number recognition and writing numbers. In Science we made a den for animals that hibernate. We use our STEM knowledge to help us plan the design and build the den. In Religion we recognize that weddings are celebrations of family.

Tuesday 1/11 - Continue to practice the letters and sounds, this is an important skill for beginning reading. We continued to work on letter A today. We are getting better at recognizing words with the given sound. In Math we are working on the concept of adding. We use manipulatives to add groups together. Please continue to practice this skill as well as recognizing the numbers 0-10. It can be difficult for classmates if they do not know their numbers. In Science we are still working on Animals in Winter. We learned that whales migrate in the winter. We watched a short video about whales migrating south then painted a whale. Try asking you child what they learned about what behaviors animals do in winter. In Religion we  recognize Jesus cares about our families.

Wednesday 1/12 - We continue to work on our letters and review them, please continue to review at home also. The class is getting better at recognizing the beginning sound of words for our class charts. In Math we continue to recognize numbers 0-10. We have been working on putting groups together and recognizing an addition sentence. Continue to help your child combine groups to find the total. In ?Science we discovered animals who live in the artic and how they must adapt, migrate, or hibernate to survive the winter months. In Religion we recognize Jesus ate meals with friends and went to a wedding.

Thursday 1/13 - We worked on recognizing letter A and identifying the sound for letter A at the beginning of words. In Math we continue to work on addition up to ten. In Science we created paper airplanes and then flew them. The class had fun seeing how far their plane would fly. In Religion we recognize the importance of families spending time together.

Friday 1/14 - Today is a half day! We are excited in our Patriotic clothes today. We made a special flag snack. We learned about the American Flag and created one. We worked on adding while we played a game with dice. We had to count the two dice and put them together for the total. We listened to a story I Wanna Be An Astronaut then we created an astronaut. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. 


Wednesday 1/5 - Today was our transition back to school day. We were very excited to see each other. We discussed New Years' traditions and celebrations. We identified the letter Y and the sound Y makes. In Math we practiced counting items and telling the number. Then In Science we talked about animals that hibernate or migrate in winter. In Religion we learned that through Baptism we become members of God's family.

Thursday 1/6 - Today we continued to work on letter Y, identifying the sound and words that begin with Y. Practice reading their Itsy Bitsy Letter Y Book. Continue to review letter sounds at home. We started the concept of adding one more to a group. We created an anchor chart with what animals do in winter. We told about how animals hibernate, migrate, and adapt. In Religion we identified symbols that are used at Baptism.


Monday 12/20 - Today we had our Polar Express Day. We came in our PJ's and watched the movie while we ate popcorn and drank hot chocolate. In Religion we finished our Advent wreath and then we recognized the important role of Mary as Jesus' mother. 


Monday 12/13 - We are filled with excitement at school today. We started with a special prayer service in the gym.  We reviewed our letters. Then we read the story Katie Candy Cane and made a candy cane card. We also tried a candy cane.  In Math we used our knowledge of shapes to make our Polar Express trains. We practiced our songs for the concert, have we have a contest if they have the words memorized they will get three stickers. In Religion we reflected on the happiness visitors bring. 

Tuesday 12/14 - We were working on reviewing our letters and the alphabet. We listened to the story There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bell and sequenced the events in the story. In Math we worked on graphing, counting, and telling how many. We also have been working very hard to memorize our songs. In Religion we discussed the happiness Elizabeth felt as she greeted Mary. 

Wednesday 12/15 - We sang an alphabet song and review our letters and sounds. Then we listened tot he story The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever and made a  tree by ordering the stripes from biggest to smallest. In Math we counted ornaments and graphed to tell how many. We practiced our song for the concert. In Religion we learned how to talk to Mary in prayer.

Thursday 12/16 - We had an exciting day today. We practiced our letters and sounds. Then we listened to the story If You Give A Mouse A Cookie in preparation for our cookie exchange. In Math we make a pattern on Christmas lights. Then in Religion we discussed how Mary and Joseph prepare for Christmas. 

Friday 12/17 - Our Christmas concert has finally come and went off without a hitch. We listened to the story How To Catch A Reindeer and made a reindeer craft. We also made reindeer food. Hopefully each of us will catch a reindeer Christmas Eve night. Don't forget to sprinkle their food before heading to bed. Have a great weekend.


Monday 12/6 - Today the class arrived to find St. Nicholas has left candy and a clementine in their shoe. We listened to the story A Special St. Nicholas Story, and made St. Nicholas' hat. We learned the letter N and identified the sound N makes. In Math we reviewed how to sequence our numbers 1-10 and practiced doing the sequence ourselves. In Science we learned about the Narwhal whale. Ask your child if they remember one fact about a Narwhal. In Religion we identified loving actions we  can do to prepare for Christmas.

Tuesday  12/7 - Today we worked hard at identifying words that begin with the N sound. Then we read the story The Night Sky and talked about facts from the book. We created a night sky with stars, moon and clouds. In Math we worked on putting our numbers 1-10 in sequential order. We practiced first then tried on our own, some friends still need guidance so please practice at home.  In Science we made the northern night sky, showing how the light moves around and creates beautiful colors. In Religion we explored what waiting for baby Jesus entails. We have been working hard to memorize our songs for our Christmas show, please practice at home. 

Wednesday 12/8 - Today we worked on our letter N sound and reviewed our other letter sounds, keep practicing at home. We read The First Christmas and created a Nativity. We talked about Jesus' family and where he came into the world, and his parents journey. In Math we counted objects and then graphed to show how many. In Science we dyed noodles to make a noodle necklace. In Religion we practiced our Christmas songs, please have your child try and memorize these songs. We work very hard at knowing these songs in school too.

Thursday 12/9 - The excitement is building in the classroom. Doodle our elf has made an appearance each day. While we have continued to learn the letter N and the sound. We have grown so much with identifying words that begin with the letter sound for the week, please continue to reinforce this skill at home. We read the story The Best Nest and made a birds nest. We are working on the concepts of print, left to right movement, and parts of the book. In Math we continue to work on skills of counting objects and identifying the number.  In Science we created our Christmas necklaces and made a pattern. In Religion we continue to explore what the waiting of baby Jesus entails.

Friday 12/10 - Today we finished identifying the letter N, so keep practicing at home. We do review the letters in school also. We read the story Noah's Ark and saw that there are many different versions but the story is mainly the same. We made an ark and put animals on the ark. We practiced tell the main events of the story by sequencing the events. In Math we worked on sorting by color and then graphing to tell how many. In Religion we have been working on songs and talked about the third candle which will be lite in mass this weekend.

Monday 11/29 - So the excitement has begun to build, our elf has made his appearance. We shared a letter he left and talked about appropriate behavior during this very exciting time of the year. In Religion we discussed ways we prepare for the coming of  Christmas. We identified the letter M today and will be bring our Itsy Bitsy Letter M Books home. Please review the letter and sound nightly and go over the letters we have learned to this point. In Math we have been recognizing size and putting the object in order by size. This skill can be practiced at home using socks or other things around the house. In Science we created magic drawings.

Tuesday 11/30 - Today we started our learning with letter M and identifying words that begin with the M sound. We then listened to the story If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, then made a mouse to help us retell the story. Please practice this skill at home as you share stories. In Math we classified items as large or small. We found things in the room then grouped them as large items or small items, In Science we made magic when we had the m come off the M&M's.  In Religion we recognize that people around the world are waiting for Jesus' birth.

Wednesday 12/1 - The excitement is building the first thing they look for is Doodle our Elf. We continued working on the letter M and  the sound. We identified words that begin with the M sound.  Then we read the story If You Give A Moose A Muffin and made a moose to retell the events in the story. In Math we practiced counting objects, first we used manipulatives then we practiced counting fall objects and writing the number. In Science we identified things that were magnetic and things that were not magnetic. In Religion we recognize the Bible is a holy book that includes stories about Jesus.

Thursday 12/2 - Today we continued with our letter M and finding words that begin with the M sound. We read the story Monster Tracks and created a monster and practiced retelling the story. In Math we are working on the one to one correspondence of counting objects.  In Science we use marshmallows to paint on our letter M. In Religion we praised God for the creation of the wonders of the world. 

Friday 12/3 - Please continue to have your child practice writing their first and last name. Also knowing their birthdate, and knowing their letters and sounds. Progress reports will be sent electronically on Monday. We had our Mickey and Minnie day today and Mrs. Stark provided us with an awesome treat to go along with our theme of Minnie and Mickey. We worked with letter M today and practiced retelling the story The Mitten. In Math we practiced counting mittens to tell how many. In Science we used our STEM minds to create a structure from marshmallows and toothpicks.


Monday 11/22 - Today we reviewed our letters and read Thanksgiving Is For Giving Thanks. We discussed what we will have for Thanksgiving dinner. We also told something we are thankful for in our lives. In Religion we learned about the beginning of the Christmas story.

Monday 11/15 - Today we identified the letter K and the sound that letter K makes. We started our class chart for letter K words. The class will be bring home their Itsy Bitsy Letter K Books, please practice. Also continue to work with the letters we have learned so far this year. In Math we we continued working with tens frames and telling how many are in the ten frame. Continue to recognize numbers 1-10. Then in Social Studies we realized ways that we can compromise to find a solution and everyone is happy. In Religion we recognize that there are many reasons to be thankful everyday. 

Tuesday 11/16 - Today we recognized the K sound and added words to our K chart. Then we listened to the story I Don't Like Koala and made a koala puppet to retell the story. In Math we continue to identify the number and show how many in the tens frame. In Social Studies we shared a story and talked about how we are grateful for what we get and should never make someone feel bad because it is not the "one" we wanted. In Religion we recognize that Jesus is the leader of many people.

 Wednesday 11/17 - Today we continued to work on the letter K sound and identifying words that begin with the K sound. In Math we reviewed the skill of sequencing our numbers 1-10. They need to identify the number then place it in the correct order. In Social Studies we discussed and identified items from years ago and items from today. This helps build the concept of past and present. In Religion we recognize that Jesus invites us to mass.

Thursday 11/18 - Continue to work on letter sounds. We continued with the letter K sound today, the class is getting better at identifying the beginning sound of words. We read the story Kangaroo Kazoo and made a kangaroo to retell the story. In Math we reviewed the skill to sequence our numbers 1-10. This takes a great deal of processing for the students. They must first identify the number, then recall where in the order of counting does this number belong. Please practice this at home. In Science we learned about kenotic energy. We built ramps then raced cars down the ramps to watch how energy can cause the car to go faster or keep it in motion. In Religion we recognized ways that we follow Jesus.

Friday 11/19 - We concluded today with identifying letter K words and the sound of letter K. We will continue to review our letters in class. Please review all the letters learned so far at home. In Math we will be ordering kites by size, smallest to biggest, biggest to smallest. Then in Science we will work on ordering the life cycle of a pumpkin. In Religion we talked about ways we follow Jesus, such as sharing with our friends, or helping them when they need help.


Monday 11/8 - Today we started with the letter X. We identified words that have the X sound in them. We talked about how there are not many words that begin with the letter X and ones that do start with the letter X do not make the same sound. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter X Book, please review this evening and each night. In Math we used a tens frame to show how many we have. We discussed how a tens frame helps us see how many with out having to count each one. In Social Studies we identified ways I Can Be Me. We talked about ways we are each special. In Religion we explored our feelings to understand that our feelings are acceptable and natural.

Tuesday 11/9 - Today we listened to the story A Xylophone For X-Ray Fish and identified the spine, front and back cover. We listened for X words we could add to our chart of X words. We made an x-ray of our hand. Please keep reviewing our letters and sounds. In Math we counted to 30, then we practiced counting items and marking a tens frame to represent the number. In Social Studies we have been discussing "I Can Be Me" and we talked about compromise and how it can help resolve conflicts. In Religion we we identified ways God loves us and is always with us.

Wednesday 11/10 - Today we continued with finding words that have the letter X sound in them. We read the story How To Become A Pirate  and made an X marks the spot. We continued to learn the parts of the book. In Math we have been learning the tens frame and how to identify how many are in the tens frame. Then in Social Studies we have been working towards ways to compromise with  our friends. In Religion we talked about how God calls us to be saints so that we can be with him in heaven. 

Thursday 11/11 - Today we worked with letter X and read the story Fox In Socks, then made a fox puppet. I introduced rhyming words as we listen to our story. In Math we continued using our tens frame to recognize how many we have. We continued learning how "I can be me" and talked about how we are each special in a different way. In Religion we found ways God calls us to be saints so that we can be with him in heaven.  

Friday 11/12 - Today we learned that letter X does not always make the X sound. We learned that sometimes it makes the Z sound like in Xylophone.  We listened to the story A Xylophone for X-Ray Fish and made a letter X xylophone. We are still working on identifying the parts of a book. In Math we counted how many in our tens frame and identified the number. In Science we identified the life cycle of a pumpkin. Then in Religion we realized that people have a right to express their feelings.


Monday 11/1 - Today we introduced the letter W and identified the sound W makes. We thought of words that begin with the W sound at the beginning, and read our Itsy Bitsy Letter W Book, continue to review the letter sounds. We then headed over to mass for All Saints Day. In Religion we discussed how we will appreciate that everyone can give a gift of self.

Tuesday 11/2 - Today we learned a letter W poem and worked on identifying words that begin with the W sound. We listened to the story Rosie's Walk and then read a book I Went Walking Back. In Math we practiced counting to show how many we have. In Science we talked about healthy foods to eat and why it is important. Then in Religion we learned that Jesus likes gifts from the heart. 

Wednesday 11/3 - We sang along with our letter W song and have been able to identify many words that begin with the letter W sound.  We listened to the story Mrs. Wishy Washy and sequenced the story with the key details. This helps us to be able to retell the story using these key details. Then in Math we shared our favorite farm animal then graphed the results to identify which was the most popular farm animal. In Science we have been working on "I can be Healthy" and we identified our body parts. In Religion we recognized that the holy Bible is the holy book of Christmas. 

 Thursday 11/4 - In ELA we continued with our phonics lesson and worked on recognizing the letter W sound and adding words to our chart that begin with W sound. Please continue to review letter sounds and recognizing letters that we have learned. I have start to asses students for progress reports. We enjoyed the book Where The Wild Things Are and made puppets to retell details of the story. In Math please continue counting with your child, and recognizing numbers 0-10. We worked on recognizing shapes today. We made a Wild Things creature with our shapes. In Science we painted our hands and saw how germs stick to our hands and can spread. In Religion we learned that preparing a gift for someone we care about is an expression of love.

Friday 11/5 - We finished up with letter W today. We had stations and worked on letter W making a wagon and witch. In Math we used a tens frame to count up to ten. In Science we used glitter as part of an experiment to see how germs spread and how long we need to wash our hands to wash the germs away. In the afternoon we had our long awaited Halloween celebration. I posted pictures of our class in costumes.  


Monday 10/25 We learned the letter V today and identified words that start with the V sound. We read My Letter V Book and made our Itsy Bitsy Letter V Books. Please review these each night. Then in Math we practiced counting and telling how many objects are there and writing the number. Then in Social Studies we told what kind of community help we would like to be when we grow up. Be sure to ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. In Religion we recognized God's gift of creation.

 Tuesday 10/26 Today we listened tot he story The Ugly Vegetable and identified vegetables and glued them on letter V. We worked on the letter V sound and words that begin with the letter V. In Math we made Halloween patterns our of spider, bats and skeleton rings, then continued the pattern of Halloween figures. In Science we used our five senses to identify what vegetable it is. We did a great job tasting and telling what it was. In Religion we learned Jesus' rule for us.

Wednesday 10/27 Today we worked on the letter V and the sound V makes by identifying words that begin with the V sound. We listened to the story Volcano Wakes Up and painted a volcanic eruption. We sequenced our numbers 1-10 in Math today to make a Halloween puzzle. Then in science we watch a volcanic eruption when we added Mentos to soda. The class really enjoyed seeing this! In Religion we talked about the Golden Rule "Treat others as we would want to be treated."  

Thursday 10/28 Today we   worked with the letter V sound and sang with the V song and recorded words that began with the letter V.  We listened to the story Love My Fangs and made a Vampire puppet to retell the story. Then in Math we played a Halloween game by rolling the dice and counting the dots then finding and cover the number. Then the person with the most numbers covered wins the game. In Science we painted with Vinegar, they really liked this concept, try it at home, it is posted on google classroom. In Religion we identified who we say "thank you" to and when.


Monday 10/18 Today we are back to the routine of learning a letter a week. We identified the letter T and the sound T makes. We identified words that start with the letter T sound and recorded them on our class chart. We also read our Itsy Bitsy Letter T Book. In Math we continued with the concept of patterns and made a pattern train with our cubes then colored the pattern on a train. In Social Studies we identified who community helpers are and the jobs they do to help the community. In Religion we have become aware of our own special abilities. 

Tuesday 10/19 Today we continued to identify the letter T sound and words that begin with letter T.  We recorded words on our class chart. We listened to a story Traffic Light and discussed their purpose. We made a traffic light craft and used our fine motor skills to tear paper. In Math we worked on recognizing and naming our numbers 1-10 and putting them in order on our train. In Social Studies we discussed community helpers Police Officers. We talked about how they help in the community and why it is important. Then we played a community helpers bingo game. In Religion we learned to appreciate how Jesus gave Bartimaeus sight.

Wednesday 10/20 We sang along with our letter T song and recorded words that began with the T sound on our class chart. Then we listened to the story Turkey Trick or Treat and made a turkey craft for letter T. Please ask your child if they know the parts of the book. We have been working on identifying the front cover, back cover, and spine. In Math we practiced recognizing our numbers 1-10 and putting them in order. In Social Studies we continue to discuss community helpers and today we talked about fire fighters and farmers. We discussed how they contribute to our community. Then in Religion we recognize how God's special friends and angels are special messengers. 

Thursday 10/21 We start our day off recording the date and weather. Then we sing our letter T song and identify words that begin with the T sound. We listened to the story Franklin Halloween and identified the parts of a book. We learned that a book has a front cover, back cover, spine, and title page. Please reinforce these concepts of print at home. Then in Math we continue to work on recognizing our numbers 1-10 and putting them in sequential order. In Social Studies we recognize two more types of community helpers a mail carrier and garbage person. We discussed how they are important to our community. In Religion we recognized God's special friends as messengers.

Friday 10/22 Happy Friday! We are finishing up with our lesson on letter T. Please be reviewing the letters and sounds. In Math we practiced recognizing our numbers 1-10 and sequencing them. In Social /Studies we played a community helpers bingo game. In Religion we reviewed how God's special friends are his messengers. 


Tuesday 10/12 We listened to our Luau story and practiced a luau dance. We made a Hawaiian lei for our luau.  We meet with our prayer partners and prayed a decade of the Rosary.  Please remember to send their rest towel/blanket in. Also we have snack on half day also, so please don't forget to send in. 

Wednesday 10/13 Today we sang along with an alphabet song. Then we read to story Spookley The Square Pumpkin and made a square pumpkin treat. Then we painted a square pumpkin and gave him a face with shapes. Then in Math we made a pattern with our cubes. We got to practice making a pattern by coloring pumpkins in an AB pattern. In Science we made observations about a pumpkin and discussed what we know about pumpkins. 

Thursday 10/14 Today we listened to the story Pumpkin Time and then we sequenced how to carve a pumpkin. In Math we continued to work on patterns and the class practiced making a pattern by coloring pumpkins. In Science we carved a pumpkin. We used our sense of touch to pull the seeds from the pulp of the pumpkin.  In Religion we recognize that the Priest is important to Jesus.

Friday 10/15 We are finishing our discovery of pumpkins today. We read the story Pumpkin Eye and made a pumpkin craft, we used the seeds that we pulled from the pulp and made what the inside of a pumpkin looks like. In Math we completed the pattern by cutting and pasting a pumpkin. We know that patterns repeat the same thing over and over. In Science our pumpkin got sick and puked all over, make sure you check the pictures out. In Religion we talked about we can be helpers to show we care and want to follow Jesus' way of living. 



Monday 10/4 Today we have started to recognize the letter L. We identified the sound letter L makes and recorded words that being with letter L on our class chart. Please practice by reading the Itsy Bitsy Letter Book nightly. In Math we learning what a pattern is and how to make a pattern.  They enjoyed making a pattern of boy girl, boy girl. In Science we made observations of an apple and drew what we saw. Then in Religion we identified ways we can share and help.

Tuesday 10/5 We continued with learning our letter L today and identifying more words that start with the L sound. It is important to continue to review the sounds for letters F, E, H, I and L. In Math we continued to work with patterns. We are working on AB patterns so only two things repeat. Then in Science we continued working with apples. We tasted three different  kinds of apples, red, green, and yellow. Red apples won, remember to ask your child what their favorite was.

Wednesday 10/6 We continued with the letter L and recorded words on our class chart. We read the story Llama Llama Mad At Mama and used our fine motor to make the fur on a Llama craft for letter L. Then in Math we made a pattern with Lego blocks and then ordered our numbers. In Science we used our sense of taste and tried a taste of lemon and a taste of lime, then graphed which one we liked better. In Religion we identified ways we can share.

Thursday 10/7 Today we finished up with our letter L identifying the sound and words that begin with letter L. In Math we counted to 20 and then ordered our numbers 1-10. We then played a game of find the number. In Science we created a lollipop lab for letter L. We observed how quickly the lollipops dissolved. Then in Religion we discussed how sharing and respect are part of belonging to God's family.



Monday 9/27 In ELA we learned the letter I and that it makes two sounds. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter I Book, and please practice through the week. In Math we sequenced our numbers 1-10. We learned that sequence is an order that the numbers go in consecutive order. We did this by gluing ice creams in order they also show how many in a tens frame. Post these number strips in child's room for them to point and count each number every morning. Please continue to count to 20 and practice number recognition. In Science we learned that we have 5 senses. We use our senses to discover the world around us. In Religion we listened to a story and learned that we are all unique.

Tuesday 9/28 We continue with the letter I each day and recording words that start with the I sound. We listened to the story Iguana on Ice and made an iguana craft for letter I. In Math we will continue to sequence our numbers this week. This is a multi task objective to recognize the number then place it in order when counting. Please continue to work with your child counting and number recognition. In Science we worked with the sense of hearing. We listened to instruments and had to identify what it was. In Religion we heard about Jesus' words of friendship.

Wednesday 9/29 We continue to work with the letter I and identifying words that begin with letter I. Please continue to reinforce letters and sounds we have learned so far this year. In Math we continue with sequencing our numbers 1-10. We created a puzzle today when we put our numbers in order. Then in science we discussed our sense of sight. We made binoculars and went for a walk to see what we could spy of natures wonders. In Religion we realized that God loves each of us.

Thursday 9/30 We have been working on writing our names. Please practice at home, using upper case first letter and the rest of the letters lower case. This will be an assessed skill. Also continue to practice the letters and sounds we have learned. This week continues to focus on letter I. In Math we continue to focus on sequencing numbers 1-10. In Science we focused on our sense of taste. We tasted ice cubes with a hint of different flavors and had to identify what they were. Be sure to ask your child what their favorite was. In Religion we realized that our families bring us to Jesus.

Friday 10/1 We finished up with the letter I today. We listened to the story Splat The Cat Scream For Ice Cream. In Math we continued to work on sequencing our numbers 1-10. This has proven to be difficult task, so please continue to work on this at home. Then in Science we made ice cream, and enjoyed eating our creation. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.







Tuesday 9/7 Today we learned the letter F and identified words that start with the "F" sound. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter F Book, please practice tonight. We also learned that zero means that we have none. We identified the number zero. We practiced counting. Then we talked about appropriate behavior in the classroom and school. We learned our classroom rules too. We enjoyed recess outside on this beautiful day.

Wednesday 9/8 The class is starting to get the morning routine down of how to unpack and where their belongings get placed. This helps develop their independence. In ELA we continue to work on letter F and the sound by identifying words that start with F. In Math we worked on identifying the number 1 and how many make the number one. In Religion we listened to a story about how to be kind.

Thursday 9/9  Today we identified more words that start with the /F/ sound and add them to our class chart. Then we listened tot he story Fox In Socks and made a fox for the letter F. In Math we practiced counting to 20. Then we recognized the number two and counting out two items. Then we tried writing the number two. During center time we learned how to use puzzles and play board games. We learned how to clean up our center too. In Social Studies we learned how to be a good friend to our classmates and use kindness. In Religion be talked about good choices in our classroom.

Friday 9/10  Today we added words to our list that start with letter F. We then listened to the story The Fire Engine Book. We made a craft for letter F and it is displayed in our classroom. We used our fine motor skill to tear paper and make our fire craft. Then in Math we identified the number three. We learned a poem to write the number three and count three items. In Social Studies we continue to learn how be good citizens in our classroom. Then in Religion we are working on learning the sign of the cross. Have a great weekend.

Monday 9/13 Today we identified the letter Ee.  We made a book that is coming home for use to practice each night the /E/ sound and identify words that start with the /E/ sound. In Math we counted 4 bears and made the number 4 with play dough. In Social Studies we continue to discuss good choices we make while in school.  In Religion we started our Seeds program "We Learn About Jesus" is the theme for this weeks lesson.

Tuesday 9/14 Today  we made elephant toothpaste. The class really enjoyed seeing it foam up and spill over and how quickly the chemical reaction occurred. We also enjoyed the story Elmer the Elephant and made a patchwork elephant for letter E.  We recorded words that start with the E sound on our class chart. In Math we worked on identifying the number 5. We used our playdough to make 5 and count out five objects. Please continue to practice number recognition. 

Wednesday 9/15 Today we listened to the story Inside the Earth then identified words that start with letter E. In Science we went on an exploration of the Earth that God made and found things that were unique to Earth. In Math we reviewed the numbers 0-5 and counting a given number of objects. Then in Religion we discussed how we are all children of God and members of his church. Please continue to review letters F and E and their sounds.

Thursday 9/16  Today we sorted upper case E from lower case e. We also listened to the story The Extraordinary Egg and painted and egg for letter E. We identified the number 6 and counted 6 items, then we tried writing the number 6.  In Religion we discussed how Jesus is welcoming and generous. In Science we did an egg experiment and put an egg into water, vinegar, and coke to see what happens. Over time it should dissolve the egg shell. We will see when we come back tomorrow morning. We did see that the compound reaction with vinegar caused many bubbles.

Friday 9/17 Today we learned new words with the letter Ee. We made an elephant craft for letter E and read Enormous Elephant Show. Please continue to practice their Itsy Bitsy Letter Books as often as possible. In Math we counted bears and practiced writing numbers 0-5. Please continue to rote count with your child when ever possible.  In Science we made elephant toothpaste.

Monday 9/20  Today we learned the letter H. We learned the sound H makes. We identified words that start with the H sound and recorded them on our class chart. We read our Itsy Bitsy Letter H Book, please practice at home. Then in Math we identified the number 6 and counted 6 counters. We also practiced writing the number 6. Then in Religion we recognize that we belong to the church community.

Tuesday 9/21 Today we worked on the letter H sound and identifying words that start with the H sound. We then read the story Herold The Hedgehog and painted a hedgehog. In Math we recognized the number 7. We practiced counting 7 apples of playdough and writing number 7. In Religion we learned that Jesus gathers us together.

Wednesday 9/22 Today we continued to work with letter H and add words that begin with the letter H to our class chart. In Math we learned the number 8 and count 8 items. Please continue to practice the letters we have learned so far and the numbers up to 10. In Science today we made a hovercraft. The class really enjoyed this! In Religion we recognized who Jesus is. 

Thursday 9/23 Today in ELA we continued to reinforce the letter H sound and record words that begin with the H sound. We listened to the story about Horses and made a horse craft for letter H. In Math we identified the number 9 and counted out 9 apples with our playdough. In Science we made honey bubbles. Then in Religion we discussed how we give thanks to God. Then we discussed how we show our thanks by our faith in action.

Friday 9/24. We listened to the Giving Tree then discussed how we can use our hands to be giving towards others. This ties in with our faith in action and how we are giving towards others in need. We are finishing with the letter H, so please continue to reinforce at home. In Math we identified the number 10. We counted ten apples made from playdough. Please continue to practice counting to 20. In Science we watched as air pressure filled a balloon on its own.




In Science today the class watched as a soda explodes into the air. We dropped Mentos into a soda the candy provides a rough surface that allows the bonds between the carbon dioxide gas and water to break more easily, helping to create carbon dioxide bubbles.  The bubbles need to escape and cause the soda to shoot upward looking like it explodes. Both classes really enjoyed watching this!
