The Southern Africa Regional Conference (SARC) is returning for its third edition, carrying on its tradition as a major gathering for students and young professionals in Southern Africa. Since 2023, African Students For Liberty has brought together individuals from all over the African continent to champion the ideals of liberty, this time in Zambia's capital, Lusaka.
This year, our conference carries a bold and timely theme: “Youth in Trade: Pioneering AfCFTA's Path to Inclusive Growth,” reflecting the conference’s alignment with the African Union’s goals under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, which aims to foster a unified market that enhances trade, investment, and development opportunities across the continent, but with the focus on women and youth in pioneering its potential.
This event promises to be an essential gathering for advocates of free markets, peace, economic liberty, and regional integration, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs, students, and policy experts to explore how the AfCFTA agenda can unlock economic growth and prosperity for Southern Africa.
At Students For Liberty, we have always believed in the power of ideas to drive lasting change. Over the years, our work has made a profound impact on communities across Africa, fostering a vibrant network of individuals committed to advancing liberty, free markets, and economic freedom.
One of the most significant ways we have made a difference is through our alumni and local coordinators. Our alumni network has grown to include thought leaders, policy advocates, and entrepreneurs who continue to apply the principles of liberty to their work, influencing policy and sparking change in their respective fields. In Africa, SFL alumni have played a key role in the continent’s think tank boom, with over 20 pro-liberty think tanks established, contributing to intellectual discourse and the promotion of free-market policies.
Our local coordinators, the driving force behind our grassroots initiatives, have been instrumental in spreading the message of liberty across campuses and communities. These coordinators organize events, workshops, and discussions that foster understanding and engagement around issues of freedom, entrepreneurship, and governance. Through their leadership, they are creating a network of young people who are passionate about driving change and building a more prosperous future for Africa.
The impact of SFL goes beyond just education—it’s about creating a movement of leaders who are equipped to challenge the status quo and advocate for the principles of freedom. From organizing impactful events to launching initiatives like the African Liberty Writing Fellowship, our alumni and local coordinators continue to make their mark on the continent, inspiring others to take action and make a difference.
As we gather for the 2025 Southern African Regional Conference in Lusaka, we celebrate this ongoing legacy of leadership. Together, we are empowering the next generation of freedom advocates, ready to tackle the challenges of today and shape a more free and prosperous future for Africa.
See you in Lusaka!
