Welcome to Design and Technological Studies at Walnut Creek. 25 years ago we might have been called “shop” class. Today, we have retained the look of a shop and added an engineering design laboratory. The students will do “hands-on” projects as well as computer design using several CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs. Sound pretty cool?……It is!
The curriculum today will definitely prepare your student for the challenges of the future. The curriculum was written by the district Design and Technology teachers in alignment with the national standards for technology education.
From the Technology for All Americans Project:
Learning with and about technology helps prepare people to live responsibly in a democratic, technically driven society. Learners will use technology for knowledge and skill acquisition, communication and information management, problem solving, creative expression, research, design, and product development throughout their lives. Technology is the tool that integrates all curricular areas into a whole through its use.
