Tutoring and Reteach

What is Reteach:

This is a flipped Classroom, meaning students will be assigned homework that is video or online level activities. I encourage all my students to complete these assignments on their own time and that they use the Cornell method of Note-taking to prepare for the next day's class. I will reteach or assign activities that will enrich and extend their understanding of the material being presented. In the event that the student is struggling, then Reteaching will be done within the school activity.

Reteaching (teach again) is nothing new in the classroom. I like to consider this an opportunity to instill confidence in your child. Today's classroom instruction is fast-paced and is student-centered. It can be fun and challenging for even most adults. I understand that some students might not grasp the entire instruction in one period. I practice a very aggressive assessment process using hand signals and active communication.

I cannot avoid doing the traditional objective assessments. I believe these are tools to help me adjust my own methods. In particular, I use them to reemphasize part of instruction that students may have trouble mastering.

Tutor Support and Extra Help:

When is tutor support needed: If they fail a block assessment and if they have had an extended absence or simply ask for help.

How: Students who fail are expected to complete tutorial support. Long-term absences need to be done the first day back to school.

I offering tutorials by the student arranging it or by parental request. Students may come at 7:10 AM, but they must have a pass that is given to them prior to attending. If A student plans to attend after-school, the parent must make arrangements for pick up or work with the CIS Specialist to use the after-school bus.
