Have you worked at another school before? If so, where?
I have been a high school teacher for 25 years. I have been a computer science teacher at Westerly High School for 3 years. Here at WHS, I teach AP computer science classes, URI computer science credit classes, and other computer science elective classes. I previously worked at The Benjamin School in Florida for 2 years as a computer science teacher and at East Providence High School for 20 years as the computer science department chair. Along with teaching at those schools, I was also an adjunct professor for Johnson & Wales University for 24 years in the information technology and creative marketing department.
Where did you go to school?
I have a bachelors in business and marketing. I also have a masters in managerial technology from Johnson & Wales University. I have 40 credits beyond masters (teaching graduate classes) as well as computer science certificates beyond masters: SQL, Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, Website Design, HTML5, WordPress I & II, Photoshop, Ajax.
What was your first paying job?
My first paying job was at Chelo’s as a waitress.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is my two children. I have a daughter who is 38 and a son who is 35.
Do you have any pets?
At the moment, I do not have any pets but I have had multiple cats and dogs in the past.
What is your favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday is Christmas. I enjoy the snow and love giving gifts to my grandchildren. My second favorite holiday would have to be Thanksgiving as I cherish spending time with my family.
What motivates you in the morning?
I have always been a morning person. I love the teachers and students at Westerly High School.
What are your hobbies?
In my free time, I enjoy taking spin and zumba classes.
