Letters of Sunshine Club Bylaws 2023-2024
Article I: Wakefield High School Letters of Sunshine Mission Statement
Letters of Sunshine Club is dedicated to writing heartfelt letters to bring comfort and support to patients and families in hospitals with the help of creativity, empathy, and kindness! Our mission is to spread compassion and make a positive impact in our community through the power of words and generosity. Be the sun in someone's storm!
Article II: Purpose of Club
To make cards to donate to hospitals and charities.
To promote positivity to those in difficult situations through donations through students understanding of these situations, creativity, and positivity.
Article III: Meetings
Club meetings will be held on the third Friday of each month during PACK A in the library
a. Mr Williams (advisor) will and must be present at all meetings regardless if only the board is present, or all members.
Article IV: Membership
Application is open to any student in grades 9 through 12.
Anyone applying for the club will be admitted unless they have violated the below requirements
Each member must be on good academic and behavioral terms with the school.
Bullying, noncompliance, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated, anyone who may violate this rule will be excused from the club or officer position immediately.
Replacing an officer will result in reconsideration and a new application form to be looked at by the President and advisor, but they can remain an active member.
Anyone excused from the club, regardless if they are an officer, will not be allowed to use this club for resumes, volunteer hours, or activity lists for college or another organization.
Article V: Dues
No dues are necessary for the club.
Article VI: Officer Positions/ Duties
President and Vice President (2)- Work with other board members to complete their positions, schedule/plan meetings and activities, be a leader, and set examples for other members. Help members with any issues they may have. Creates the enrichment PowerPoint for each meeting.
The president runs the club's publicity by posting on the club’s Instagram and helping manage the website.
Secretary (1)- Helps the Presidents to create and find opportunities for future events and recruit members. The secretary keeps the meeting minutes, checks in students who attend meetings (all timely), and writes meeting notes.
Communications(1)- Handles communications for hospitals and nonprofits, finds new opportunities, educates on their rules, and aids in the transportation and mailing of letters.
General Members- Attend meetings when possible and create a positive environment.
Officers cannot miss more than two events and or two board meetings per year
Board meetings will be separately held once a month prior to the event.

The president(s) and advisor will review the application and choose who is suitable for the position
The election will take place the first week of the club being officially established
Article VIII: Activities, Projects, and Community Service
At each meeting, members will write letters for a different hospital or organization while learning about them.
