Why Hawksbill Sea Turtles are important

There are very few Hawksbill sea turtles according to https://oliveridleyproject.org/sea-turtles/why-are-hawksbills-critically-endangered, “...with only approximately 8,000 nesting females left globally.” The Hawksbill sea turtles are critically endangered because people are taking their shells and using them for jewelry even though it is illegal. This makes me feel bad because they are hurting our Hawksbill sea turtles and they are awesome. I would be devastated and sad and they are cool sea turtles. Hawksbill sea turtles are a big vital source to coral reefs. They maintain the balance of the ecosystem by eating the sponges and coral. So if the Hawksbill sea turtles die and go extinct the coral reef will expand and overpopulate. How would you feel if the Hawksbill sea turtles have gone extinct knowing that part of their death was because of you?
