Tour 2024
I haven't drawn much outside of my portfolio this year, so I don't have much art to share. I dubbed this my "best piece" due to the fact that I had a lot of fun making it. This summer I want to learn as much as I possibly can, for awhile I felt I've stuck to the same themes and stylistic choices, so going forward I want to experiment more. I feel like this piece encompasses that. Even though it's rough and not as polished as my other works, It was something that I was happy with.
The biggest risk I took this year was deciding to change my portfolio for the second time. It was only a little over a month until the whole thing was due, and by some miracle I was able to finish it. Though I'm proud of the hard work I put into it, the resulting pieces suffred the effects of being rushed and I felt as though I could have done much better. Now I know what I need to prepare for next year in order to help myself be successful
This year I got really into painting. Originally my first piece (left) was supposed to be a basic still life study, but it ended up being one piece that I had a lot of fun working on. Its really rough and I learned a lot while making it. My newest piece (right) was something I did in one night, and it was incredibly fun to work on. It allowed me to be loose with my strokes and expressive with my lineweights.
This piece I finished last year, but its something that I still really like. I wanted to focus on maximalist settings paired with overwhelming colors and motifs. I've always enjoyed bright colors and crowded settings but I feel as though when I drew this I pushed all the elements to the max.
This piece I did recently, I mainly wanted to experiment with a custom brush I made. I ended up really liking the result and it inspired me to continue experimenting with new techniques and styles going forward.
