Our calendar (linked here) goes through the entire process from application to publication.
Ideation Process: Involves brainstorming potential disciplines and further topics to try researching about (in order to apply for writing, you must complete summaries for each topic so our team can judge accordingly).
(The idea should be unique: if you were to write something about Bipolar Disorder for example, don't simply review the disorder- elaborate on a niche effect it has on others, such as "Bipolar Disorder and Social Media Use". This also helps the artist by allowing them to plan their sketches based on a topic.)
Signup on Form: Potential writers and artists will submit their proposals on our google form.
Selection: Our team will be looking through everyone's applications and choosing a number of writers and artists based on the number of applicants. Not everyone will be chosen, so keep that in mind while applying (this means do your best and trust that we'll pick the most qualified and interesting pitches!)
Working on Drafts: Ideally, finishing the draft means about 3 days of collecting research/sources and 7-10 days of writing. The remainder of the time should be about refining and collaborating with your assigned illustrator to decide what aspects of the draft they should be illustrating.
Submission: This is a STRICT deadline- we will not be accepting any submissions after this, regardless of any factor.
Revision Process: Our editor team will look over your drafts and leave comments, feedback, and additions. Afterward, we will be going through the drafts and approving it for the layout process (aka making of the journal).
Layout Process: Our editor, illustrator, and exec. team will be taking writer drafts and making the final layout for the journal. On the last couple of days, we will be going over the final journal with writers, asking for their input.
Publication!: We will be releasing the journal link on our website and a shared drive! Be sure to check it out (bragging rights are granted for anyone involved in the process 😊).
