I chose Lana Tikhonova for myself portrait project. I like the colors that she is using and she uses a palette knife to to stroke the colors onto the portrait. My self-portrait is similar to hers is the style that she is using as she uses bright colors like, pink, yellow, blue, green, orange, and possibly make them lighter for the lighter areas of the face, and darker shades for the shadows. I think drew my portrait very well but when I started painting it I started to have some doubts because I usually blend in the shadows and make it lighter where the light should be hitting the face so I use mostly a pencil and a blending tool instead of paint because I’m not that good with mixing the colors and making it look that good. The feedback I got from my portrait that I need to try blending more colors and use those shades instead of just plain blue, or yellow or red ect. So, I started making different shades of colors to so the bright spots should be this kind of color, the darker spot should be this color. I used a lot of my class time painting this portrait and I put the best into it as I could possibly do even though I feel it could be a little bit better but I am pretty happy how it came out because I thought it would look terrible as I knew that I’m not a very big fan of blending paints together but, it came out pretty well.
For the self portrait I used bright colors and a pallete knife. The art style that I used to do this I used Lana Tikhonva's style as she smears colors on the body and face, the lighter areas brighter, and the shadows darker.
These three sketches are me practicing how to make proportions right and trying to make it realistic as possible by trying my best using the differents shades that I have to work with as I mix them getting the shades that I want to match the skin tone and other features.
This is the final project over making proportions and using a style called cubism. You can tell it is cubism because it has simple shapes but can tell it is still a butterfly sitting on some leaves. I picked this because in class we are aloud to pick one our practice sheet and enlarge the image in our minds so that it can fill up the whole canvas as I picked my second practice sheet. I may have a little regret after looking through the sheet because I am starting to like the last practice sheet where I combined to images together.
This is the first practice sheet I have done. I started out with basic shapes first and then began to make it more realistic as you can tell it is a cabin sitting out in the water. In each box it is a different kind of style or has different colors but yet this one is not all the way finished.
This is the second practice sheet I have created. The image I am painting in this a butterfly sitting on leaves. In the first box, I mad seven simple lines horizontaly and in the second bow I made them vertical then the third box made line that would make the shape of the butterfly. Next in the fourth box, I drew a close up image of the butterfly as you can tell theres not the whole image of the butterfly in the box. The fith box I used cubsim making simple shapes but you can see it's still a butterfly. The last box, I used a compus to make the circles as I still try to make the shape and details of the drawing.
This is the final practice sheet. In the practice sheet we are taking two images and combining them together as the top row is a man and the bottom row is a view of mountains in lakes. The first row is going to be semi-realistic, and get more abstract as you proceed and make it into simple shapes.
In the second row, I drew the view first making as realistic as possible in the final box, I comined both of the drawing making the man camoflauge into the background using the colors of the water and land like you are seeing through him but still takes on a form of a person.
