Mae C. Jemison was the first African American woman to go to space.
After leaving NASA in '93, she founded the Jemison Group which encourages science, technology, and social change.
Majored at Stanford University for chemical engineering and African and African American studies.
Also went to Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences earning a doctorate degree in medicine.
