Dragon Eye

Black Watercolor and black sharpie

9" x 12"

The main idea of my work is that a dragon is looking into our world, and you can see his eye pick through the wall. The main idea was guided into what I made it into because when I first got my paper all I saw was an eye and then I thought about how it would be cool to see a dragon peek into the world. I also thought that if the dragon was close up that it could look like it's looking through a hole in the sky or a hole in a door where a key could go. When I first got my paper it had a black line in the middle. I first took the line and made it a little bit bigger than it started with a black marker. Next, I made the shape of the eye with a pencil. I outlined it with a black linger so that it stood out when I panted it. I then took two different black watercolor paint. I made the eye with red, orange, and white Prisma colored pencils. Then I took two different yellow watercolor paint. I then went back in with a black sharpie and made the dragon scales. When I first started my piece I was going to make it a page full of eyes. But then I messed up on that part so I thought let me make it a dragon. The processes between my idea and my finished piece took a little bit longer than I thought it was going to be. I asked my family what they think about it and they gave me a really good idea about the scales. I research what a dragon eye looks like and what dragon scales looked like. I practice dragon scales on a different paper so that I can get the shape down.
