Behind the Scenes
Krissanela Ishina Labit is a first-year Management Information Systems student from Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey. Prior to college, Ishina was involved with extracurriculars in journalism (news writing and photojournalism), photography, and photo and video editing. The aspiring business analyst has an interest in reading, sewing and gaming.
Research and Sustainability
"Prior to this course, I only had a shallow understanding of what sustainability was."
I was one of those individuals who thought that sustainability was exclusively focused on the environment. Despite that being partially true, that is not always the case. During my college composition course, I touched on the different aspects of sustainability. I first wrote a sustainability report on agriculture and its labor practices to challenge my prejudices about the meaning of "sustainability". Now that I have covered that part of sustainability, I am glad to touch on the environmental aspects of it.
Why did you choose natural brands?
"Natural brands, to me are not a specific type of industry; rather, it is more of a type of branding. Over the years, I have used numerous products that were branded as "natural" and "clean". Based on personal experience, I have seen an increase in brands listing themselves as "clean", "eco-friendly", "made from natural ingredients" and others. These brands heavily rely on their image, thus when they get involved with greenwashing issues, it brings immense impact on their brand image and reputation.
What were the inspirations behind the overall design of the website?
"Natural brands are often associated with being "clean," "fresh," or "vibrant." I wanted to integrate these concepts into the design of Greenwashing & Natural Brands. My goal is to create an aesthetically pleasing site that incorporates colors inspired by the typical brand image of a business that markets itself as "natural." I have also gained inspiration from different sites compiled through godly.website. Different elements were created by using Canva. I highly recommend these platforms to anyone interested in website designing or just designing in general."

Further Reflections
"Although having designed websites in the past, this assignment was a new genre for me. I have always worked in teams when creating and designing websites, so the opportunity to create this assignment on my own was a challenging but exciting experience. The creation of Greenwashing & Natural Brands allowed me to apply my previous knowledge of web designing and also help me improve on the different areas involved in it."
