Build and Design Process
Our group spent a few days building the car and working on the slideshow. Some of our group members took some time over break to research stuff for our car.
Types of Energy Used
Etotal (J) - The total energy of a machine. Our car has a total energy of 4 Joules
Eth (J) - The energy lost from friction and air resistance. We found it by taking the total energy and subtracting the PE and KE from the Etotal.
KE (J) - This is the energy put into making our car move. It's calculated with the equation KE=1/2mv^2.
PEstring (J) - This is how much energy our car started with. We found this by measuring the spring constant and stretch distance of our rubber band. After putting them into the equation we got a PE of 4 Joules.
PEgravitational (J) - The energy an object holds before it's dropped or rolled down a slope. The equation is PEg=mgh (mass*acceleration of gravity*height)
Reflection
I think that our group did a good job on the project. We did a good job managing our time during the building process. We could have been a bit more on task while make our slideshow.
