Unit 1 - Kinematics
Projectile Motion Lab Write-Up
Design a projectile motion device that could: fit on a standard desk, have at least 1 variable be modified, assembled/disassembled in under 3 minutes, and have a projectile exit velocity of at least 2 m/s. Once designed, we were to be able to calculate where our projectile would land. From this, we were to determine a target distance and an error rate.Β
Unit 3 - Energy
Ball Drop Lab
Plan, conduct, and analyze the Ball Drop U to K lab. Determine what happens to the potential energy in a dropped ball as it falls and prove that energy is conserved.Β Β
Roller Coaster Project
Design a roller coaster in which, at the end, the car will be sent off the track and predict, based on the calculated energy, the conserved energy, and projectile motion. Accounting for all of the energy transfers: spring potential, potential gravity, kinetic, and thermal.Β
Unit 4 - Momentum
Physics of (Sports) Momentum Video Analysis
Analyze 2 objects that collide with each other to determine the beginning and end masses and velocities, to determine if momentum is conserved in that collision. Also, determine if kinetic energy is conserved and if the collision is elastic or inelastic, and what percent.Β
Unit 6/7 - Harmonic and Rotational Motion
Build the Funnest Swing!
Design a tree swing/something that has harmonic motion and analyze the harmonic motion, torque leading to rotation, conservation of energy (before and after rotating), the conservation of angular momentum, and the funness quotient.Β
Unit 8 - Fluids
Under Pressure
Design an irrigation system and calculate the pressure and speed at each selected point.Β
