In spring of 2018, my girl scout troop (31068) built a Monarch Butterfly Waystation to support Monarchs during their migration from the overwintering sites on the coastline to the Central Valley and Sierra foothills. This was our GSA Bronze Award project, the highest service project fifth grade Girl Scouts can earn. Now, four years later, the Monarch population continues to decline. I chose to create this website to continue to support the Monarchs and to encourage youth involvement .
When I originally proposed this project, I was thinking of earning the Bronze Award. As the project grew, I really developed a love for Monarch butterflies. Now I am doing my GSA Silver Award and I want to continue the ongoing battle for Monarch butterfly preservation.
