Solve a World Problem

Reflection:

In all, we did well as it was a challenging project, but we ended up putting in the work and trying to do our part in the project to make it work. Once, everyone in the project was assigned to research or do something. We were able to get it done on time and ready to be presented to the class. The things that I was able to do well in this project were I was doing my work and listening to the directions. I was able to be consistent. The thing I want to keep working on, in the next project is my focus, as I get distracted easily, and my dedication to the work as I don't find the motivation to complete it.

Ask: Identify the need and the constraints-

We decided our problem to be fentanyl. As it is a big issue in San Francisco. We would want to do it everywhere as it's not only an issue in the Bay Area, but our solution would need too much money to solve the issue everywhere, so we just decided to stay in San Francisco as it's known to be a high drug use city.

Research the problem-

We spend around a few days searching through different websites reading and writing down the information from the websites in our notebooks where we could later on put the information into the final work.

Develop possible solutions-

We thought of many different ideas and how we could solve the fentanyl issue and later decided to make Narcan vending machines where they dispense free Narcan to anyone in need.

Test and evaluate prototype-

We looked at our solution and how we could make it work where people could access it easily, where it they would need to plant the vending machines, and how we could get people to use them and not be suspicious of them.

improve redesign as needed -

We thought for a while about how we could improve our idea and make it work, so we first started to think of where we could put it and decided to put the vending machines in the high-drug use areas of San Francisco, where it would affect the overdose rates the most. 

select a promising solution- 

As we thought of the location of the vending machine, we still needed the funds to make our idea a reality, so we thought of how we could get the money. We decided that donations and government aid would help us the most and get these vending machines on the streets to help fight fentanyl.

Create a prototype-

​We found the price of the vending machines and the Narcan to be expensive, but the donations and government aid would help us easily support our idea. Even though it might be expensive, it could help San Francisco and its high drug use.
