Harry’s act of moving to America not only set him up for opportunities, but also provided the same for his six children. Although none of them went to college, two of his sons followed directly in his footsteps, continuing his legacy and using what Harry had taught them to succeed in the business world. The three daughters took on the typical role of Albanian women. “Historically, Albanian American women have borne the responsibility of preserving the memories, customs, and traditions of the Albanian homeland. A woman's first obligation is to marry and raise a family.” This is what they did and they did it well. Overall Harry's adventure to the United States has led to generations of success, happiness, and love within our family.
Harry's six kids as adults
My mom and her sister grew up having lots of get-togethers with other Albanian families, following Albanian traditions, and visiting aunts, uncles and cousins every weekend. Now my brother, my cousins, and I have all been taught the importance of family and traditions, and through this learning we will do the same as we grow up and have families of our own.
"I was raised to always put family first and I want to carry that to future generations and teach them the importance of family in life." -Lesly Murray (my mom, Harry's granddaughter)
