I am Smera Yeddula, an 11th-grade student at the Mercer County Technical Schools Health Science Academy with a curiosity about the ways in which the economic, social, and technological systems of the world affect the world itself. I am looking forward to studying economics at NYU and continuing to learn about the ways in which the world can be improved.
I made VolunteerFlow because I recognized the need and the means to solve the problem. I did not wait to be asked to solve the problem. Using Firebase and Visual Studio Code, I made something that any member of the staff can use, regardless of their background or knowledge of technology – because the best technology is the technology that is used.
VolunteerFlow has taught me something that no class has yet: that inefficiency is not necessary. It is just that no one ever takes the time to make things better. I plan on doing just that with my life— whether in economics, policy, or public service — doing exactly that.
