WElcome to Mrs. Miller's Classroom

Welcome to Pleasant Prairie Elementary School! My name is Patience Miller and I am your child’s teacher for this school year. I am here first and foremost to provide a safe, loving and compassionate environment in which your child can thrive. I want them to feel inspired, challenged, and confident in my class. For your child to be successful it is important that I communicate with you, as well as with them. We are a team, working together to meet your child’s educational goals. Therefore, I will post weekly updates on this website, and send weekly emails to keep you informed about homework assignments, classroom activities, where we are in the curriculum, and other important information going on at our school. You can reach me anytime at pmiller@kusd.edu, or call the school office between 8am and 4pm at (262) 359-2104 to leave an urgent message.

I would like to share briefly with you about my teaching background. I grew up in North Carolina and earned my bachelor's degree from East Carolina University. After working in retail management, I moved to Wisconsin fifteen years ago for my husband’s job. I have been married for seventeen years and have two children - a daughter (15) and a son (12). I am very proud that both of our children attended this school for many years. I also have a 4-year-old rescue dog named Boaz. The class will come to love Boaz, as he always gives me a story to share.

Education has always been highly regarded in my family. My grandfather was a middle school science teacher and my mother retired after teaching 33 years. Like others in my family, I love children and helping them learn has become a passion of mine. Consequently, thirteen years ago I decided to return to school at UW- Parkside to earn my teaching license. This will be my eleventh year teaching in the Kenosha Unified School District, and my ninth year at Pleasant Prairie Elementary.

I am most excited about teaching your child this year. I am thrilled to be a part of this classroom learning family and am committed to your children’s academic and social growth. I look forward to a productive and fun year as we learn and grow together. Again, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you! It is going to be a fantastic year!
