WElcome to Mrs. Miller's Classroom
Welcome to Pleasant Prairie Elementary School! My name is Patience Miller and I will be your child's teacher for this school year. I'm here first and foremost to provide a loving and compassionate environment in which your child can thrive. I want them to feel inspired, challenged, and confident in my class. For your child to be successful it is important that I communicate with you, as well as with them. We are a team, working together to meet your child's educational goals. Therefore, I will post weekly updates and emails to keep you informed about homework assignments, classroom activities, where we are at in the curriculum each week, and other important information going on at our school. You can reach me anytime at email@example.com, or call the school between 8am and 4pm at (262) 359-2104 to leave an urgent message.
I would like to share briefly with you about my teaching background. I grew up in North Carolina and earned my Bachelor's Degree from East Carolina University. After working in retail management, I moved here to Wisconsin nine years ago for my husband's job. I have been married for eleven years and have two children - a daughter age 9 and a son 6 years old. I am very proud that both of our children attend this school. I also have a 9 year old rescue dog named Cowboy. The class will come to love Cowboy, as he always gives me a story to share.
Education has always been highly regarded in my family. My grandfather was a middle school science teacher and my mother just retired from teaching 33 years. Like others in my family, I love children and helping them learn has become a passion of mine. Consequently, seven years ago I decided to return to school at UW-Parkside to earn my teaching license. This will be my fifth year teaching in the Kenosha Unified School District, and my third year at Pleasant Prairie Elementary.
I am most excited about this experience to teach in your child's class. I am thrilled to be a part of this classroom learning family and am committed to your children's academic and social growth. I look forward to a productive and fun year as we learn and grow together. Again, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you! It is going to be a fantastic year!
All my best,
Check out my presentation above. I will share this with the class on the first day of school!
